99 Nights in the Forest Obsidiron Ingots: How to smelt Obsidiron

0

Based on the real-world volcanic glass, Obsidian, “Obsidiron” is a new crafting material added to 99 Nights in the Forest with the arrival of the Meteor Shower update alongside Meteor Shards.

Just like Obsidian, you can tell that Obsidiron means business thanks to its dark, serious hue, but Raw Obsidiron Ore requires more processing than other materials you find throughout the woods. Whereas Obsidian is famously extremely sharp but very easy to smash, Obsidiron in 99 Nights in the Forest is a hard-wearing material that can be used to craft armor as well as other equipment.

However, before you can turn Raw Obsidiron Ore into useful items, you first have to smelt it into Obsidiron Ingots, then reconstruct the special red anvil altar, which you can then use to craft this new equipment.

Here’s how to get Raw Obsidiron Ore in 99 Nights in the Forest, smelt that into Obsidiron Ingots, then turn those Ingots into powerful items!

To make the best use of Obsidiron, make sure your rocking one of the best classes in 99 Nights in the Forest, which you can unlock using another recently introduced feature, 99 Nights in the Forest codes.

Where to get Obsidiron Ore in 99 Nights in the Forest

Odsidiron Ore can be mined from the black deposits found in meteor crash sites after your world has experienced a meteor shower event.

During the nighttime, the message “the sky is on fire” will sometimes appear. This indicates that a meteor shower is currently underway. In the morning, you will then be able to find meteor crash sites littered across the map.

At these sites, guarded by meteor crabs, you find red and black deposits. When hit with an axe, red deposits give you meteor shards and gold shards. Black deposits give you Raw Obsidiron Ore, which you can then smelt into Ingots.

To make an Obsidiron Ingot, follow these steps:

  1. Repair the red anvil by dragging the Anvil Front, Anvil Back and Anvil Base into the outline
  2. Interact with the crafting bench to view the materials you need
  3. Mine Raw Obsidiron Ore from the black deposits at meteor crash sites
  4. Drop the Raw Obsidiron Ore from a height to remove the outer stone layer
  5. Drop the exposed Obsidiron Ore into a pool of lava, which can be found at meteor crash sites
  6. Finally, drop the Scalding Obsidiron Ingot into any pool of water, it doesn’t have to be “very cold” or in the Snowy biome
  7. Return with the correct amount of Obsidiron Ingots and Meteor Shards to the red anvil and craft your item

To find the red anvil building, build a map at your crafting bench, then look for the icon marked on the map. During the event window it’s marked with an exclamation mark, but it will still be marked after that too.

The instructions for making Obsidiron Ingots are actually found next to the red anvil, but can be difficult to parse if you don’t know what to do.

Before you can use Raw Odsidiron Ore, you need to drop it from a high place to remove the outer, stony layer and expose the Ore inside. You can do this from pretty much anywhere if you just jump and drop the stone from a ledge.

Next, finding lava can be tricky, but it often appears in certain meteor crash sites. Defeat the meteor crabs guarding the site, then drop your exposed ore straight into the lava pool.

Pick up the scalding Obsidiron Ingot, you don’t need any special equipment to do this, then drop that into any pool of water, anywhere on the map. The instructions at the anvil say to use very cold liquid, which would suggest this needs to be done in the snowy biome, but it doesn’t.

The contact with the water will finish the smelting process and grant you a completed Obsidiron Ingot, you can now take that to the red anvil alongside shards to craft items.
