Gotta Build ‘Em All: Lego Teases Pokemon Sets
Lego has produced multiple sets based on famous video game franchises over the years, and in 2025, it’s tackling one of the biggest IP of all time in the form of Pokemon. For now, Lego is only teasing a single kit to kick off its new Pokemon line, but it looks like it’ll be focusing on the Pokemon franchise’s mascot Pikachu with this kit. Here’s a look at the teaser image for it:
There’s not much to go on here, but the image does show off a collection of Lego blocks assembled to form Pikachu’s tail. More pricing details, a release date, and a closer look at what Lego is working on will be revealed at a later date. Beyond that, Lego also recently revealed two new sets inspired by Nintendo. First up, there’s the 1,972-piece replica of Mario and his kart, making this one of the largest Super Mario Lego sets out there. Priced at $170, this will be exclusive to the Lego Store when it launches on May 15 and it’ll be available through other shops later in the year.
The other set Lego has teased is a Nintendo Game Boy, but for now, there’s not much to go on regarding price or an official release date. One reliable leaker has claimed that the Lego Game Boy will go on sale starting October 1, will be priced at $60, and contains 421 pieces.
If you can’t wait to assemble your own Pokemon, there is an alternative in the form of Mega kits. These put an interesting spin on the pocket monsters, as several of the sets feature faithful designs and mechanical elements to help bring the Pokemon to life. The Pikachu set, for example, features a hand-activated crank to emulate a running motion in Pikachu, while the Charizard set has flapping wings and swaying motions engineered into its design.
You can even build your very own (non-functioning) Pokedex, as the delightfully retro set from Mega is on sale for only $18.39 (was $35). This set is based on the Kanto Region Pokedex, has light-up features, and comes bundled with five lenticular cards. All of these sets are also officially licensed by The Pokemon Company.
