How to refill rations in Assassin’s Creed Shadows
Assassin’s Creed Shadows features a fast-paced and intuitive combat system where you’re forced to face multiple enemies at once and mistakes can be punished fairly harshly.
Particularly in the early game, this means you will want to keep stocked full of the rations that serve as your healing items. Given how quickly you can munch through them, it’s not immediately obvious how you’re supposed to get more in preparation for the next battle, but once you do, it’ll become second nature to build up a strong supply.
How to refill rations in Assassin’s Creed Shadows
There are three main ways to refill your healing items in Assassin’s Creed Shadows:
- Return to your hideout or a Kakurega and select refill resources from the chest inside
- Find an enemy food storage container somewhere in their camp
- Visit a food vendor in a major town or city
The most sure-fire way to refill your rations is to return back to your hideout, or head to one of the Kakurega that serve as your bases and fast travel points around the world.
Here there’s a range of useful things you can interact with, and one of them lets you refill all of your rations, ammo and other consumables.
At your hideout, you can refill your healing items from the Kakurega building you built at the start of the game. Whereas at Kakurega out in the field there’s only one room to navigate to.
Otherwise, you need to rely on what you can scavenge from the field. Most enemy camps and fortified settlements will have a food storage box somewhere. It looks like a tall, square lidded box that’s been left slightly ajar.
Interact with one of these and your health will be fully restored and your rations restocked. You can also sometimes receive rations when defeating elite enemies.

Also, even though it’s much less convenient, you can head to food vendors in major towns and cities to grab a bite to eat. This will have the same effect of restoring your rations, but involves a lot more running since you can’t fast travel directly to them.
