How To Get More Scouts In Assassin’s Creed Shadows

0

Are you curious about how to get more scouts in Assassin’s Creed Shadows? These NPCs are more akin to a resource, as they can be used to discover the exact locations of objectives based on clues. Moreover, they can gather materials for future use. We’ve got a guide to help you with this particular feature so you can have a smoother playthrough.

How to get more scouts in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

You can get more scouts, or refill your available scouts, via certain buildings in your hideout, like the Kakurega and Study. A couple of helpers also join up as part of an early-game encounter.

Scout uses and utility functions

As mentioned earlier, scouts have two key functions:

  • Discovering objectives – In most cases, when you’re tackling quests, the exact locations of objectives won’t be shown on the map. Instead, you’re given clues regarding the region and general vicinity. Based on these clues, you can have scouts scan a portion of the map. If you get it right, the correct location will appear with a marker. The other option is to simply head to the location and look for the objective yourself.
  • Smuggling resources – While lurking about in outposts and bases, you might come across large stockpiles of hideout resources. You can assign scouts to smuggle these materials back to your base, and the items themselves will be part of your personal stockpile after the in-game season changes, which it does periodically as you progress through the story.
Scouts can be used to scan areas on the world map, provided that you’re tracking a quest objective.

The Kakurega building

You get your first Assassin’s Creed Shadows scout once you build the Kakurega building in your hideout, which is part of an early-game task. From there, you can continue to upgrade the building to unlock new functions:

  • Level 1 Kakurega: Adds +1 scout; Kakurega locations can be used for fast travel purposes; can undertake seasonal contracts.
  • Level 2 Kakurega: Kakurega sites offer rumors about the locations of collectibles and treasure. You may assign scouts to clear alerts/wanted levels for your character.
  • Level 3 Kakurega: Additional Kakurega locations become available; reduces costs of unlocking Kakurega by 30%.

Note that settlements like towns and cities may have their own local Kakurega, which you can unlock by spending mon. These then act as fast travel points, complementing landmarks/viewpoints–i.e. the usual fast travel spots–in the vicinity.

New scout recruits

After a quick tutorial about the hideout, you’ll control Naoe once more. Upon leaving your base, you’ll come across a couple of NPCs by the roadside. Speak with them and have them join your cause. This action nets you +2 scouts.

The Study building for additional recruits

Past this point, you can get more scouts in Assassin’s Creed Shadows via the Study building in your hideout:

  • Level 1 Study: Adds +1 scout; reduces the search zone for quests by 25%.
  • Level 2 Study: Adds +1 scout.
  • Level 3 Study: Adds +1 scout; reduces the search zone for quests by 60%.

Replenishing scout availability

Regardless of how many scouts you have in your merry band, they only have one use (or charge) per season. Thankfully, they should be available again through the following means:

  • New season – The passage of time leads to a new season. This also refreshes the availability of scouts.
  • Instant refresh by spending mon – You can interact with the colorful pouches in your hideout’s Kakurega. You should then be able to spend mon to refresh scouts instantly without waiting for the next season.

That does it for our guide on how to get more scouts in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. We hope these utility NPCs make it easier for you to discover mission objectives.
