How to trigger Shifting Earth events in Elden Ring Nightreign
Elden Ring Nightreign is currently home to four different Shifting Earth events for players to experience, all of which are transformative map events that feature unique objectives and rewards to discover. Once you’ve first experienced them all, however, you’re likely to find that these events don’t typically reappear.
While they can reappear if you’ve happened to queue with a player who has one active, there’s been no way – until now – to manually trigger these events again. Fortunately, the Everdark Sovereign game-mode which was shadow-dropped changes that.
Here’s how to trigger Shifting Earth events in Elden Ring Nightreign.
How to trigger Shifting Earth events in Elden Ring Nightreign
First things first, there are currently four Shifting Earth events for you to experience in Elden Ring Nightreign: the Crater, the Mountaintops, the Rotted Woods, and Noklateo, Shrouded City.
These events initially unlock as you defeat the Nightlords, but once you’ve beaten everyone that there is to beat, you’ll notice that these events very rarely appear again.
To retrigger a Shifting Earth event, you’ll need to participate in Nightreign’s Everdark Sovereign mode. This mode features an enhanced version of a Nightlord that will rotate weekly, and you can access it from your match-making menu in the centre of the Hold.
At the time of writing, the Everdark Sovereign Nightlord is Gaping Jaws, but this is due to change after a week of the enhanced boss being available, and will continue to change weekly after that. The Sovereign Nightlord is also only available to those who have already beaten his original form too, so bear that in mind if you can’t see the currently active Everdark Sovereign.
Now, to retrigger a Shifting Earth event, you need to go on an Expedition against and successfully beat Everdark Sovereign bosses. These fights will reward you with a new currency, Sovereign Sigils, that can then be used to essentially pay for a Shifting Earth event to return.
You can then use Sovereign Sigils in a new area known as the ‘Collector Signboard’ which you can access via the list of locations shown alongside your map. Interact with the large shield-like signboard here, and you’ll be able to spend them on triggering Shifting Earth events as and when you want to.
On top of that, your Sigils can also be spent on some new Urns and Chalices, as well as new Relics. You can also use them to purchase skins for your Nightfarers instead of spending Murk if you fancy that.
Additionally, the Collector Signboard may also be used to adjust the lighting around the Hold. By selecting ‘Alter Great Site of Grace’, you can choose to transform the Hold back to the illuminated state it was in before you unlocked the final boss, the Night Aspect.
Last, but not least, those defeating an Everdark Sovereign boss for the first time will receive more Sovereign Sigils. Further attempts yield less rewards.
