How to craft a Chainsaw in 99 Nights in the Forest
In the deep, dark forest, whoever is carrying a chainsaw is king, but you’ll have to jump through a few hoops before you can claim one for yourself in 99 Nights in the Forest.
As you ward off the mysterious and terrifying Deer and the evil cultists who worship them, there’s not much better that you could have in your hands than a gas-powered chainsaw. However, you’ll need to gather a relatively huge stock of materials and get a little bit lucky to craft one!
Where to get a chainsaw in 99 Nights in the Forest
Both the ultimate tool when it comes to logging and gathering wooden materials and a formidable melee weapon in its own right, the chainsaw in 99 Nights is a hidden item but also one of the most fun.
To craft a chainsaw, you need to build up your camp fire to the max, then track down where the special building known as the Anvil Base has spawned on your map.
You’ll know the Anvil Base as it looks like a tall, circular, multistorey tower with a giant picture of a blacksmith’s anvil on the side.
When you track it down, the entrances on both sides will be blocked. You need to use an axe or similar logging tool to break down the door, then when you do, you’ll be greeted by a gang of cultists who spawn inside.
Once they’re defeated, you need to search the base building to find three pieces of the anvil – including the base, front and back pieces – inside. You can climb the green vines to reach the upper level if you can’t find them at the bottom.
Add the anvil pieces to your sack, then take them down to the middle of the ground floor and place them in the shadow of the anvil. This will rebuild the anvil and allow you to craft its unique items.
While you can also craft bandages for healing yourself and reviving allies, the chainsaw is definitely the main event.
How to craft a chainsaw in 99 Nights
Like regular crafting recipes in 99 Nights in the Forest, you can build a chainsaw from materials you find scattered around the evil woods.
To build a chainsaw you will need:
- 4 Cultist Gem
- 4 Bear Pelt
- 2 Alpha Wolf Pelt
- 10 Scrap
Scrap and Wolf Pelts are all relatively straightforward and can be found as either random loot or as uncommon drops from red-eyed alpha wolves across the forest.
Cultist Gems are gained either by clearing a Cultist Stronghold and claiming the rewards at the end, or by repelling the cultist attacks on your campfire which happen from Night 4 onwards. When cultists attack your campfire you get one gem, but in strongholds you can get multiple.
Bears are powerful late-game enemies who function similarly to wolves but are much tougher. They’re found on the edge of the map once you’ve reached max level with your campfire. However, you can also find bears trapped in cages by cultists.
These cultist hunting parties tend to spawn close to strongholds and bases, and provide a chance at lots of different kinds of loot, as well as the chance to take on a bear with a distinct advantage.
Finally, when you’ve completed crafting a chainsaw, it’s equipped as a tool like any other. But now you’ve gone to all the trouble of making it, you better not die and lose it again!
