WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers Riddle Gate solutions

0

WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers features a lot of different mechanics and systems to get used to. It can be overwhelming initially, but once you slowly wrap up Chapter 1, you’ll hopefully begin to find yourself getting accustomed to things. Something you may run into and not be so certain of are Benediction Gates, also known as Riddle Gates.

Benediction Gates are grand doors that, in most instances (but not all), will task you with answering a cryptic question before opening. Guess the answer correctly and you will receive a reward. If you get it wrong, however, punishments range from receiving no reward at all, to being thrown into a boss fight. Fun! To help you avoid any particularly troublesome situations, here are all Riddle Gate solutions in WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers.

Below, we’ve detailed all known Riddle Gates and what each response provides you with in WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers.

That said, this page is currently limited to Riddle Gates found in Chapter 1 (Shu Sanctum) and Chapter 2 (Cloudspire) of the game, as to avoid any mid-to-late-game spoilers. Here’s your spoiler warning for early-game locations and boss names, however.

Riddle Gate #1: Tang Emperor Palace

The first Riddle Gate you will likely run into is found in Tang Emperor Palace in WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers, and is closest to the Palace Hill Shrine.

From the Shrine (and facing away from it), take a left onto the rooftop. Go down the ladder and head right, past the red building on your right. The Riddle Gate is straight ahead of you, at the bottom of some stairs, and upon interacting with it, you must choose between ‘The winged ascension’ or ‘Feathered Transcendence’ and there’s no option to back out.

Here’s what each option does:

  • The winged ascension: The door opens, and you can retrieve Benediction Sheng – Lasting Alacrity.
  • Feathered Transcendance: This throws you into a fight against a Tang Palace Maid (unless you have already beaten her), and you cannot claim the above Benediction.

Riddle Gate #2: Hillswatch

After having battled it out with Commander Honglan, you’ll wake up at the Reverent Temple with the Reverent Temple Key. Use this key on the western door in the temple’s courtyard, and you’ll begin your journey into Cloudspire.

As you do, you’ll first reach a stone bridge with a crying servant and the Hillswatch Shrine, and there’ll be a Riddle Gate to your right, before the bridge. This time, you must choose between ‘Challenge the threads of fate’ or ‘Follow the course of destiny’, which provide the following:

  • Challenge the threads of fate – the door will open and you can go inside to retrieve some Kong Wine and the Bridal Armor set.
  • Follow the course of destiny – teleports you to Mort Grotto in Cloudspire.

Riddle Gate #3: Cloudspire Outskirts

When you eventually reach the Cloudspire Outskirts Shrine in WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers, the next Riddle Gate is very close by. If you go through the wooden gate to the right of the Shrine, the Riddle Gate is immediately on your left.

If you have not yet unlocked the wooden gate here, you’ve a little more work cut out for you. You’ll need to go back on yourself – in the opposite direction to the Shrine – and right, up a small hill. In this next area, there’ll be an archer to be wary of, but also a small charred hut with a ladder inside on your left.

Go up here and straight ahead, and keep right until you go through a wooden gate. Keep right again, going past the dog enemy, and then take a left into an area full of tents and cannons (pictured below).

If you head past the cannons and keep right again, you’ll eventually come to the opposite side of the wooden gate from earlier and now be able to open it. The Riddle Gate is also conveniently to the right of the wooden gate here.

Once you reach the Riddle Gate, you don’t actually have a choice to make this time around! The gate will automatically open, and you’ll be able to go inside to acquire Benediction Sheng – Lethal Might.

That’s it for WUCHANG’s Riddle Gates for now, but we’ll update this page with more solutions and rewards soon.
