How to find the Magma Furnace and Infernal Heart in Prospecting
The Magma Furnace and its sub-area, the Infernal Heart, are found deep inside the Volcano on Caldera Island in Prospecting, but you will have to complete a few steps to get there first.
Plus, the Infernal Heart only stays open for 30 minutes at a time, so you’ll have to plan your approach wisely to make the most of your time in the super-heated cavern!
How to get into the Infernal Heart via the Magma Furnace in Prospecting.
First, speak to the Ferryman on the pier next to town in the Fortune River.
He says that boat rides to Caldera Island have been paused because the lighthouse on the coast is broken and can’t light the way. Given you know that the Infernal Heart likely has something to do with a volcano, and “caldera” is the technical name for the flat part at the top of a volcano, Caldera Island seems like a good place to start your search.
Go past the Enchanting Table in Fortune River towards Sunset Beach, where you find the lighthouse.
Climb the spiral staircase and speak to the Lightkeeper at the top. She says that the lighthouse needs a new piece of the rare ore, Luminum, to restore its beam.
Luminium is a Legendary rarity mineral that can only be found on Sunset Beach or inside the Crystal Cavern River and its adjoining sub-area, the Azuralite Oasis. As a Legendary item, it’s extremely difficult to dredge up, and will almost certainly require you to buy multiple Luck and Strength Totems from the Shard Seller to speed up your panning.
I found it easiest to find Luminium at the Crystal Cavern River thanks to its conveniently placed merchant and decent loot pool.
Once you’ve grabbed the Luminium, make sure you take it to the Lightkeeper (she will remove it from your inventory, so don’t accidentally sell it now you’ve gone to all that effort).
With the Lighthouse fixed, you’re now free to return to the boatkeeper and set sail to Caldera Island.
When you reach Caldera Island, instead of heading towards the town of Volcanic Sands and the Windswept Beach, walk towards the volcano on your left.

At the base of the volcano you should see a fire priest guarding the entrance to a tunnel. Speak to him and he’ll tell you the magma inside the volcano is too dangerous to traverse, but that he can protect you with a spell cast using a Fire Opal.
Fire Opals are another Legendary item found in Volcanic Sands, but even without the protective spell, you can venture inside the volcano to take a look – you just won’t be able to walk on the lava.
Inside, you have found the fabled Magma Furnace. Then, periodically at the back of the chamber, the timed door to the Infernal Heart will open for 30 minutes at a time.
What can you find inside the Magma Furnace and Infernal Heart in Prospecting?
The Magma Furnace and Infernal Heart both offer a slew of unique items for you to collect and sell. However, the Infernal Heart in particular is a unique place where you can find Mythics and Legendaries which used to be specific to lots of different locations. Now you can just pan here and get a chance to fill out a lot of your Collection with rare and valuable gems.

Next to the entrance of the Magma Furnace though, you can also find the best equipment items in the game, the Dragonflame Pan and Dragonflame Shovel. You can also find the Dragonflame Sluice for farming any panning spot while you’re offline or AFK.
