Fisch’s Elder Mossjaw is a rare, secret fish and the only exotic-grade fish added in the Lost Jungle update. If you want to get your blocky hands on it, though, you’ll have to put in a bit of work and trust to some luck. The Elder Mossjaw spawn location is deep inside the Forgotten Temple, and the fish only spawns during specific hunts, which pop up at random.
Below, we explain where to find the Elder Mossjaw in Fisch, how to catch it, and what you can expect for the trouble.
Elder Mossjaw location in Fisch
The Elder Mossjaw only spawns in the giant pool in the Mossjaw Rest area of the Forgotten Temple, which is blocked off until you unlock the temple and solve its puzzles. Even when you do that, though, you’ll have to wait for the Elder Mossjaw hunt server event to begin, or you won’t find the fish at home when you pay a visit.
A banner notification appears at the top of the screen when an Elder Mossjaw hunt starts, so you don’t have to worry about it happening without you realizing what’s going on. There’s some confusion floating around about when an Elder Mossjaw hunt is likely to happen and what the spawn chances are, but the general consensus is this:
- Mossjaws spawn every 10 minutes
- There’s a low chance of finding an Elder Mossjaw when these spawns happen
- Night seems to be the best (possibly the only) time to find an Elder Mossjaw
How to catch the Elder Mossjaw in Fisch
You’ll need to bring Glowworm bait along when a Mossjaw hunt begins. The beast has a special feature that slows down catch speed, and most passive catching effects won’t work on it. You’ll want to rely on enchantments that increase catch speed, such as Overclocked, or rods with the Piercing ability. Luminescent Oath also works on the Elder Mossjaw.
The Elder Mossjaw rewards you with 700,000 XP, though how much cash you get for it depends on the size. The minimum is roughly 80,000, which isn’t that much if you’re after expensive items like you’ll find in the Black Market.
