Where Winds Meet Sect Guide

0

A great martial artist is nothing without a great teacher, so to unlock all of the Ultimate Weapon Arts in Where Winds Meet you must seek out a master to bestow the secrets of their Sect upon you.

At launch there are technically 8 Sects you can join in Where Winds Meet, including the default “Sectless” state which favours the Nameless Sword and Nameless Spear styles.

However, 3 of the Sects described in-game, namely the Mohist Hill, Inkbound Order and Hollow Vale, are currently listed as “Not Yet Available” or that no one knows how to join. It’s unclear at launch whether this is locked to progression through the main story and all will become clear, or these Sects will be joinable at a later date as more content is added.

Why should you join a Sect in Where Winds Meet?

In Where Winds Meet, Sects are like pre-made in-game clans, with ranks, cosmetics and unique activities to participate in.

However, for casual players, the main reason to join a Sect is to learn the corresponding Ultimates for your favourite weapon or preferred playstyle. For example, the Silver Needle gives Fan martial arts, one of which allows you to heal your character, making it pretty much a no-brainer for at least your secondary slot.

With that said though, you can only join one Sect at a time in Where Winds Meet, so you need to choose wisely and not get stuck somewhere you’re not making the most of.

To advance your rank within your chosen Sect, you need to participate in different events and follow the “rules” of the clan. For some Sects, this just requires playing the game in a particular way.

Using the Silver Needle as an example again, you just need to use your healing abilities to restore other players’ health in multiplayer. But crucially, a tenet of the Silver Needle is to demand payment for your service and therefore you must receive enough Likes from other players to satisfy your Sect.

How to leave a Sect in Where Winds Meet

Leaving a Sect is relatively simple, but isn’t without consequence.

To begin leaving a Sect, you need to go to the Sect menu and hold down the leave button prompt at the bottom of the screen. This will give your character a mini-quest where they grovellingly ask permission from the Sect master to leave.

You will then be given a task to complete by the master as recompense. For example, to leave the Nine Mortal Ways you will need to hand over 50,000 Zhou Coins. So while that isn’t too huge of an inconvenience, it’s also not something you want to do over and over and over.

Once you’ve left a Sect, you can rejoin, but there’s a 24 hour cooling off period.
