How to join the Silver Needle sect in Where Winds Meet
Joining Where Winds Meet’s Silver Needle sect is one of the more involved side activities of teh early game, and it’s only possible to say in the sect if you’re interacting with other players. You’ll also need to level up a fair bit before unlocking the profession that lets you join the sect.
Below, we explain how to join the Silver Needle sect in Where Winds Meet and why you might want to pick this sect. If you’re interested in the game’s other groups too, check out our Where Winds Meet sect guide.
How to become a healer in Where Winds Meet
Before you can even try to join the Silver Needle sect, you need to unlock the healing profession. To do that, you must:
- Reach level 13 or higher
- Speak with Mu Ji’an in Mercyheart Town
Or, more specifically, speak to Mu Ji’an northwest of Mercyheart Town’s boundary stone, as the healer is on the edge of a cliff tending to a patient.
Mu Ji’an asks you to collect some herbs to cure a poisoned traveler, and the quest marks the herb locations on your map. Grab them, return to Mu Ji’an, and complete the healing mini-game to get the traveler back on their feet.
You must complete this quest and become a healer before you can start the Silver Needle sect quest.
How to join the Silver Needle sect in Where Winds Meet
Once you become a healer, head south of Moonveil Mountain. You’re aiming either for the river that borders the Qingque City section of the map or Sage’s Knoll. If you’ve picked up the Silver Needle hint from the journal, you’ll go to Sage’s Knoll, learn that Dr Yuan is gone, and find him near the river. Alternatively, we found that if you don’t pick up the hint, you’ll end up finding Dr Yuan in his shop in Sage’s Knoll.
Anyway, once you do speak with him, he has a task for you: heal three more patients. The difference between this and the first healer quest is that you have to request specific forms of payment. The quest markers lead you to each patient, so just follow them to get started.
- The sick merchant: Request “ill-gotten wealth” as your payment
- The injured villager: Request the Jar of Parting Tears
- The other patient: Doesn’t matter. You opt for free treatment regardless
Return to Dr Yuan for a lesson in demanding fair compensation for services provided. Remaining in good graces with the Silver Needle sect requires you to heal other players and request compensation for it, so get in the practice of A) not playing solo and B) demanding payment.
Remaining in the Silver Needle sect gives you access to the sect shop, with different items on offer as your reputation increases, such as Buddha’s Tear at the beginning rank and a new hairstyle later on (but not a hairdye color).
