EA has dropped a cinematic teaser for its upcoming Star Wars game, Star Wars Zero Company, and confirmed a release date: 27th August, 2026.

In a three-minute teaser shared during the Summer Game Fest activities, it gives a closer look at the mechanics and gameplay, including its XCOM-like permadeath feature, where “every strike counts, every move counts, and every choice counts”.

If you don’t mind a couple of light spoilers about who you’ll be meeting during your adventure, there’s also a lovely reveal at the end, too – you can check it out below:

“Every Move Counts. Command an elite squad through a gritty and authentic story in Star Wars Zero Company, a single-player turn-based tactics game launching on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S,” the video blurb teases. “Coming August 27, 2026.

“Each choice you make could alter the fate of the galaxy in this cinematic original story set in the twilight of the Clone Wars Era.”

Pre-order ahead of August’s street date, and you’ll secure the Crystallinbe Astromech Comsmetic Pack.

As Fran summarised for us recently, the original story – led by Jedi: Fallen Order and Survivor veteran, Aaron Contreras – is set during the Clone Wars. Clankers and Separatists of various kinds are among the foes you’ll be facing, but things become more interesting when a mysterious Dark Side cult comes in, empowering regular people using evil ghosts.

As Fallen Order and Survivor have already leaned on the more surprising side of Star Wars’ mythology, it appears Zero Company may be doubling down on such ideas while retaining “the grittier style of Rogue One” and the prestige TV prequel Andor.
