The dangerous planet of Kairos is teeming with treasure and unique guns in Borderlands 4, but for a free-and-easy chance at some Legendary Loot, you need to use SHiFT codes.
SHiFT codes are single-use reward codes distributed by Gearbox Software periodically, and sometimes even by their CEO on Twitter, often dishing out coveted Golden Keys which let you open the Golden Chests scattered around the landscape.
Golden Chests can be found in most of the major cities, camps and hideouts you find throughout the planet. They’re great because they give you a chance at finding the most exciting Legendary weapons without having to farm the same bosses or high-level enemies over and over.
So while your main mission is technically to rid Kairos of the domineering influence of the malevolent Timekeeper, we all know that the best part of Borderlands is the magical moment when you hear a piece of top-tier loot pop. SHiFT codes make that happen more often, so what’s not to like? Here’s how you can redeem them for yourself and all of the currently working codes that exist.

SHiFT codes in Borderlands 4 are case-sensitive, so you’ll need to enter them IN ALL CAPS for them to work.

How to redeem codes in Borderlands 4
Like with earlier Borderlands games, you’re first going to need to sign-up for a SHiFT account. Once you’ve got one of those, it’s quite simple:
- Head to the “My Rewards” section of the SHiFT website
- Enter you code into the “Code Redemption” box and hit “CHECK”
- You’ll then be asked for which game, pick “Borderlands 4”
- And your free Golden Keys will be added to your inventory when you next boot up the game
