A Longtime Microsoft Exclusive Franchise Makes Its PlayStation Debut In March

Developer World’s Edge has announced that Age of Mythology: Retold and Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition will be launching on PlayStation 5 this year.

The Age of Empires spin-off Age of Mythology: Retold is releasing on March 4 with the same content as the Xbox and PC versions, including the new expansion launching on the same day, the Chinese-themed Immortal Pillars. The PS5 version will also include cross-play and every future update will be pushed onto all platforms. The Premium Edition grants five-day early access starting on February 27 and preorders include two exclusive Blessings for the Arena of the Gods mode.

In Spring 2025, Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition will drop on PS5 alongside new DLC expansions for all platforms. While World’s Edge didn’t provide any additional details, the studio did show a sneak peek at of what’s to come.

World’s Edge also revealed that it’s working on a second DLC expansion for Age of Empires IV, which is also going to launch this year. The first one, Knights of Cross and Rose, is set to launch in spring.

These games are the latest ones to make the jump over from Xbox to PlayStation after being console-exclusive to the former for years. Last week, Microsoft announced that Forza Horizon 5 would be coming to PS5 this spring.
