AdHoc Studio has announced a new narrative game called Dispatch at The Game Awards. The game follows a washed-up superhero (played by Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul) working an office job, dispatching his fellow superheroes as he works to regain his own status as a hero. The game is the debut title for AdHoc Studio, which was formed by former Telltale developers with a focus on narrative storytelling.
The game has a stacked, multidisciplinary cast alongside its lead Aaron Paul, who is joined by Westworld’s Jeffrey Wright, prolific voice actors Laura Bailey, Travis Willingham, and Matt Mercer, and a number of well-known gaming and internet personalities including Jacksepticeye, Moistcr1tikal, Alanah Pearce, Thot Squad, and more.
Dispatch follows Robert Robertson, whose career as superhero Mecha Man is interrupted after his mecha suit is destroyed in a battle with his arch nemesis. Now, he’s forced to take a job at a superhero dispatch center, taking a backseat as a dispatcher instead of a hero as he works to regain his title as hero.
While Dispatch appears to have elements of management and strategy, the focus is strongly on the narrative and relationships between the characters. The game’s Steam page invites players to balance “office politics, personal relationships, and your own quest to become a hero.” All your choices will matter in this game, AdHoc promises. Whether it’s deciding who to send out on a mission, or simply how you banter with your work colleagues, every decision can have an impact on the broader unfolding narrative.
Dispatch is expected to release on Steam sometime in 2025.
