AC: Shadows – Out to Pasture, Where are the bandits?

One of the first side quests you encounter in Assassin’s Creed Shadows is Out to Pasture, where Naoe is asked to help fend off bandits plaguing the farmland around the town of Sakai.

However, this is also one of your first interactions with one of the non-linear quest structures of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which usually asks you to track down your targets in the open world of Feudal Japan. But, this time around, you’re not given a specific target, or a quest marker.

Your task is just to take down “bandits” in the Settsu area, but what does that mean?

Where to find bandits for the Out to Pasture quest in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

To complete the Out to Pasture quest and claim the resource rewards and XP it offers, you need to defeat a total of 100 bandits around the Settsu area. However, up to this point, you’ve been given a general direction to investigate in all of your quests.

For this side quest, you just need to defeat general bandits out and about within the first area of the world map, Settsu.

Bandits can usually be found at red diamond locations on the map, such as the Money Changing District south of the docks in Sakai, or at bandit camps scattered throughout the countryside. Many of the hostile castles and temples throughout Settsu are also overrun with bandits, but make sure you’re not just fighting town guards.

You can distinguish bandits from other hostile warriors such as town militia by their outfit. Guards will be better equipped and well dressed with a more discernable uniform. Bandits on the other hand will be thugs carrying knives and swords, but with raggedy clothes and an unkempt appearance.

A total of 100 can feel like a lot, but if you accept the quest early and explore Settsu in search of wandering targets like the Kabukimono and main story mission targets like the Golden Teppo, you should find yourself visiting plenty of hostile settlements and taking down more bandits than you realise!
