All 99 Nights in the Forest Weapon locations

One of the most important items on your to-do list when you land in 99 Nights in the Forest is to get your hands on one of the best weapons you can find.

While the menacing Deer is an insurmountable force who can’t be harmed with regular weapons, you’ll need to protect yourself from the other dangerous inhabitants of the dark woods, including packs of wolves and their alphas, bears and the mysterious cultists who worship the Deer.

You will also need a powerful weapon if you’re going to rescue the 4 missing kids from around the Forest, so to help you survive until the next morning comes, here are all of the weapons you can find throughout 99 Nights in the Forest!

Where to get weapons in 99 Nights

The main ways of collection weapons in 99 Nights in the Forest are:

  • Trading with the Pelt Trader
  • Equipping a Class with a weapon in their starting inventory
  • Looting randomly-spawning Chests in the Forest and Cultist Stronghold
  • Finding a randomly-spawning gun cabinet location

Pelt Trader

A reliable way to get a weapon in the early game is to trade a rabbit foot and wolf pelt to the Pelt Trader who always appears on Day 2 of your run. The Trader can offer both a Spear and Revolver, but, depending on how many other players you’re in a party with, it might be better to prioritize a Good Axe and Pouch at that early-game stage.

Classes

Some classes also start with both melee and ranged weapons, including the Hunter (Bear Traps), Ranger (Revolver), Lumberjack (Good Axe) and Assassin (Katana and Throwing Knives).

The best of these is obviously the nimble and deadly Assassin, whose Katana sword and Throwing Knives work in the same way as a Spear and Revolver, essentially meaning they start with both a melee and ranged option.

However, there are plenty of early game ways to collect similar items if you don’t want to spend 500 of your hard-earned Diamonds on the Assassin.

Gun Cabinet

Around your camp, it’s possible to find a gun cabinet building which will always contain ammunition and either a revolver or a rifle on a workbench inside.

These aren’t very common, but aren’t too rare either and when you come across one are a great source of powerful equipment.

Rare Chests

Finally, the best and primary way to find weapons is to loot treasure Chests around the forest. As you explore, you’ll be able to see their black outline in the distance and it’s always worth making a detour to check out what loot they contain.

As well as weapons, Chests can contain useful tools like Bandages and rare resources.

There are also different kinds of chests which can contain different types of loot. Regular chests hold Good Axes, Spears, Revolvers and Rifles alongside more mundane items.

Rare chests, which are more treasure chest-shaped, start to appear as you reach campfire level 4 and explore deeper into the Forest. These contain better loot and have a better chance of giving you useful equipment.

Finally, Gold Chests are found in the deepest reaches of the Forest and in the reward room of high-level Cultist Strongholds.

The Cultist Stronghold is a combat gauntlet which resets every 20 minutes, letting you clear out waves of enemies for the reward of high-level Chests and Diamonds.

Once you find the Cultist Stronghold and get enough of a base to complete it regularly, it’s the best way to get your hands on end-game items. Gold Chests are pretty much the only way you’re going to get your hands on the best weapons in 99 Nights, the Morning Star and Tactical Shotgun.
