Arc Raiders has a significant number of components for players to find, scavenge from larger items, and occasionally kill other players for. But some are natural occurrences, because the game also has a few fruits and vegetables you can harvest.
In this case, the ever-elusive prickly pears are one of the fruits you need to find in order to upgrade everyone’s favourite character, Scrappy.
Scrappy the rooster is your component mule. It goes around scavenging for stuff to gift you each time you return from a raid, regardless of how well you did. It’s a nice bit of reward that ensures you get something, even when you may have just lost everything.
Scrappy, however, needs to be trained. While its basic form is decent, you can take it even higher, which increases the quality of the items it could find and bring back for you. This is a multi-level process, and each step requires certain items that may not always be easy to find.
In this guide, we’re going to explain where you can find prickly pears, which Scrappy likes, and which will upgrade its level.
Where to find prickly pears in Arc Raiders
To begin with, prickly pears are Nature items, which means they’re found in areas marked by that icon on the map, the same sort of locations where you can find lemons and apricots. Prickly pears can be found by any of the cactus plants located across a number of Arc Raiders’ maps. They can sometimes be found inside baskets, too. However, they’re random drops, meaning you can’t guarantee you’re going to find them, even if you keep looking around cacti.
Cacti are typically found a little outside the centre, on the edges of the map, where they can more freely grow. Buried City appears to be the map where you’re most likely to find patches of cacti, but they can also be found in Dam Battlegrounds, and even Spaceport.

Arc Raiders Lush Blooms map event modifier
Arc Raiders has an in-game modifier called Lush Blooms, which greatly increases the spawn rate of all natural resources, such as fruits/vegetables and other things that aren’t manmade. Before you set off on a raid, see if any of the available maps have this modifier active at the time, and pick that map. You’re going to find what you’re looking for far more easily and with much better consistency.
How to make it out safely
When you’re off on a plant-harvesting run, or really any run where you want to farm a specific item, it’s best to make those raids as brief as possible. Get in, find what you’re looking for and extract. Don’t get into any unnecessary gunfights, and certainly don’t stack your inventory with other stuff just because you’re there.
We recommend going with a Free Loadout for these sort of runs because of its much lower risk compared to the normal option. However, because Free Loadouts don’t come with Safe Pockets, some players prefer the risk of equipping an Augment even though they may lose it, just because of the fact the different Augments include Safe Pockets. The choice is ultimately up to you on that one.
