Assassin’s Creed Shadows Genzaburo’s Soldiers locations

After Naoe and Yasuke liberate Harima from The Ox in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the remnants of his violent ideology still litter the landscape, as high-ranking members of his militia still carry out their mission to terrorize the unfortunate citizens of the region.

At Kyokaiji Temple, you find the Fallen Soldiers quest, where you catch up with Koshiro who, despite his injuries, has taken it upon himself to deal with his old comrades one by one.

However, it’s obvious he’s in no condition to take on seasoned, deadly warriors, let alone by himself. To stop any more innocents from getting hurt, Naoe and Yasuke take it upon themselves to locate Genzaburo’s Soldiers and eliminate the Ox’s influence for good.

With 5 targets to take down, you’re given a lot less information about Genzaburo’s Soldiers than other target lists, so here’s where to find them all.

The Scout

At the start of the quest you’re given just one lead: that The Scout can be found in the south of the Silver Lands.

To track them down, make your way to Maruyama Shitsugen to the southwest of Tada Kakurega in the Silver Lands. Just to the west, you find the Scout playing the flute on a small island in the middle of the marsh. They drop the Vigilant Grasp bow and buildup on consecutive hits engraving, but also a letter busting open a few more targets.

The Swordsman

Now you know the Swordsman operates out of Harima, in the northwest of Engyoji to the north of Himeiji.

At Mitsunodo Hall to the north of Himeji, you overhear people warning each other about a blood-crazed man to the west attacking travellers on the nearby bridge. Run down the hill to investigate and you find the Swordsman fighting all comers on the arched bridge.

Make this his last battle and you can claim the Inari’s Bounty katana, the critical change on combo ender engraving and another letter pointing you towards another target.

The Teppo Expert

This time, you get a proper mini-quest to learn the target’s location. Travel to the nearby Inariyama Garrison, which is east of the bridge where you fought the Swordsman.

Just to the northwest of the army barracks, eavesdrop on the Shrine Maidens at the murder scene from the top of the nearby tower. This sends you to Kaya Shrine, up the road to the northwest.

Behind the main shrine, you find the Teppo Expert cleaning his rifle. Line up an assassination to bring him to justice and claim the Wave of Wasps Teppo and Larger Explosive Surprise engraving for yourself. You then also get a letter pointing to your next target.

The Poisoner

Next, your final target before you reach Genzaburo himself is The Poisoner, who is situated in Settsu, west of Osaka Castle.

From Osaka Kakurega, cross the river and head north to the moat around Nishinomaru Garden. In the market, listen to the children discussing a secret passage into the castle grounds to watch a Biwa performance. Follow the child when he runs away, then slip through the hole in the wall on the other side of the moat.

Blend into the assembled crowd and you find the Poisoner performing across the pond. Turn the musical show into a martial arts demonstration and when you win you’ll get the Poisoner’s Message bow, Damage on Multiple Enemies engraving and your last clue towards Genzaburo’s location.

Genzaburo

Flee Nishinomaru Garden and return to Koshiro at Kyokaiji Temple in Harima.

Despite wanting to put a stop to Genzaburo himself, Koshiro eventually relents and reveals his location to you: Zuiganji Temple in the northeast of Himeiji.

The temple is outside the city perimeter, on the other side of the river to the north. You find Genzaburo training in the courtyard. Approach him for a chat and after a heated exchange he engages you in combat. He’s a difficult foe, but like many bosses his lack of armour makes him vulnerable to ability spam. When he’s defeated, the list of targets is complete and you get the Tactician’s Steel katana and its Adrenaline on Consecutive Hits engraving.
