One of the best attacks in recent Assassin’s Creed games has been a 300-inspired boot to the chest, and in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, that ability is making a comeback. Ubisoft showed off the move in action on its social media, demonstrating how Yasuke can use it to disrupt enemy attacks.
As mentioned above, the “War Kick” is clearly inspired by Zack Snyder’s 300 film and its glute-powered finisher, and in a nod to the source material, and in response to one Spartan-fueled comment, the company had the perfect response lined up:
This is Japan, actually.

We’ve seen this attack in the previous two Assassin’s Creed games, as Odyssey featured the Spartan Kick and Valhalla had the unlockable Kick of Tyr for players to try out. The attack has been a life-saver in those games, especially if you were fighting close to a perilous drop on top of a mountain or a tall building.
What makes Shadows stand out is the sheer brutality of using the War Kick to beat down an opponent and then carve them up, with Yasuke stabbing his enemy through the chest, lopping off both of the unlucky warrior’s arms, and then finishing him off with a swift decapitation. Ubisoft recently revealed more details on how players can build specialized playstyles through the game’s Mastery and Knowledge skill-trees.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows officially launches for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S on March 20, and it features a robust selection of accessibility options, a world that dynamically adapts to your main character, and seasons that’ll change how you play.
