Black Ops 7 Best guns and Loadouts for ARs, SMGs and Snipers

Black Ops 7 is finally in our hands, and it’s time to dig through the many weapons, Perks, Field Upgrades and all the other items that make up a loadout in the game to theorycraft some solid weapon builds and effective loadouts.

We’ve been doing some of that ourselves here, and we created a few loadouts that we think will help you fulfil certain roles with aplomb. Read on below for our current favourite Assault Rifle, SMG, Marksman Rifle, and Sniper Rifle builds.

M15 MOD 0 Assault Rifle weapon build

  • Kepler-Pro Red Dot
  • VAS 5.56 Suppressor
  • 16.5″ Fusion Barrel
  • Ironhold Angled Grip
  • Peregrine Grip

Sidearm: Jager 45

  • LTI Mini
  • Jager Roar Suppressor
  • 8″ Warp-45 Barrel
  • Dash-L Grip
  • Vector Sync Laser
  • Field Upgrade: Squad Link, Frequency Booster.
  • Wildcard: Danger Close.
  • Lethal: Frag, High Density Explosive.
  • Tactical: Pinpoint Grenade, On Board AI.
  • Perk 1: Ghost.
  • Perk 2: Vigilance.
  • Perk 3: Charge Link.

This Perk setup gets us the Operative Hybrid Combat Specialty. This allows us to earn Field Upgrade charges from stealthy kills, which are any kills with suppressed weapons, melee weapons, and kills when out of life of sight.

You’ll also notice that we picked Charge Link, which greatly complements the already powerful Squad Link Field Upgrade. This loadout is intended for objective players, and anyone looking to farm score while they learn the game in the early days.

What makes this M15 MOD 0 build strong?

M15 MOD 0 is your starting Assault Rifle in Black Ops 7, and it’s one of the most versatile options in that category. It has a decent rate-of-fire, and remains accurate even when you hold down the trigger for longer periods.

We’re going with the 16.5″ Fusion Barrel here because of its balanced boost to range and bullet velocity. Of course, the suppressor is a crutch in almost every build to keep us off the minimap, and the VAS 5.56 Suppressor will do.

The Ironhold Angled Grip offers so many objective upgrades that it’s hard not to pick it, but we’re mainly interested in its reduction to idle sway and increase to aim walking steadiness. The Peregrine Grip for the rear gives a massive boost to ADS speeds, too, which will certainly come in handy with this build.

Razor 9MM SMG weapon build

  • Monolithic Suppressor
  • 9″ Heron Barrel
  • Strikeface Extended Mag (40RND)
  • LTI Swiftpoint Laser
  • EAM Pushback Grip

Sidearm: Jager 45

  • LTI Mini
  • Jager Roar Suppressor
  • 8″ Warp-45 Barrel
  • Dash-L Grip
  • Vector Sync Laser
  • Field Upgrade: Drone Pod, Quick Launcher.
  • Wildcard: High Roller.
  • Lethal: Semtex, Controllable Fuse.
  • Tactical: Psych Grenade, Distilled Compound.
  • Perk 1: Gung Ho.
  • Perk 2: Vigilance.
  • Perk 3: Cold-Blooded.

By using these Perks, we get the Scout Hybrid Combat Specialty. With it active, anytime we get a bullet kill, we stay off the minimap for five seconds. This can be extended if we continue getting kills during that window.

What makes this Razor 9MM build strong?

The Razor 9MM has the fastest rate-of-fire for an SMG in Black Ops 7 so far. Our goal here is to try and extend its range as much as we can without taking away from its key advantages. This all starts with the Monolithic Suppressor, which extends the range and bullet velocity. The 9″ Heron Barrel may not be the longest of the bunch, but it will make up for it by lowering ADS speed while maintaining this SMG’s role as a close-quarter bullet hose.

This can’t be called a bullet hose, of course, without an extended magazine, which is why we’re going with the Strikeface Extended Mag here. The LTI Switfpoint Laser will be visible at the hip, but considering the playstyle intended with this build, we’re using it for its boost to ADS speed and sprint to fire speed.

Finally, the EAM Pushback Grip helps with horizontal recoil, which is going to be an issue with sustained fire, especialy when firing from the hip.

Dravec 45 SMG weapon build

  • Lethal Tools Elo
  • Bowen .45 Suppressor
  • 19″ EAM Horizon Barrel
  • Gator Extended Mag
  • Herald-Z1 Grip
  • Serval Q-Step Stock
  • Accelerated Recoil System
  • LTI Swiftpoint Laser

Sidearm: CODA 9

  • VAS LED
  • Bowen 9MM Suppressor
  • Hellgate Stick Magazine
  • Pincer Grip
  • 4MW Snap Laser
  • Field Upgrade: Fear Trap, Acidic Compound.
  • Wildcard: Gunfighter.
  • Lethal: Cluster Grenade, Tighter Packing.
  • Tactical: Flashbang, Brighter Burn.
  • Perk 1: Ghost.
  • Perk 2: Engineer.
  • Perk 3: Charge Link.

With this setup, we get the Operative Hybrid Combat Specialty. Through it, we can earn Field Upgrade charges from stealthy kills. Those are kills with suppressed weapons, melee weapons, and kills done out of line of sight.

What makes this Dravec 45 build strong?

The Dravec 45 is something of a UMP-45. In other words, it’s a slow-firing, but very accurate SMG with a pretty respectable range. For this build, we’re going with eight attachments thanks to the Gunfighter Wildcard. We’re starting off with the Bowen .45 Suppressor because it’s an early unlock with no downsides. The 19″ EAM Horizon Barrel is the longest we can put on this weapon, and it’ll help us maintain accuracy and damage at range.

The Dravec 45’s slow fire rate means it’s going to take you more shots to down your target, which is why we’re bringing along the Gator Extended Mag, which packs 48 rounds. The Herald-Z1 Grip attempts to smooth out the heavier aspects of the weapon to make it a little lighter to handle. This will only really come into play in close-ish ranges, but it’s a nice to have overall.

The Serval Q-Step Stock is a good option to make the weapon feel a little lighter when we’re walking in ADS. The Accelerated Recoil System is what’s going to reduce the recoil even further, ensuring accuracy at all ranges. Finally, the LTI Switfpoint Laser is here to balance out our ADS speed, and make it so we can fire the weapon faster after a sprint.

M8A1 Marksman Rifle weapon build

  • Redwell 30-S 2X
  • VAS 5.56 Suppressor
  • 18″ Ionic-8 Barrel
  • Instinct Grip
  • Sentinel Extended Mag (40RND)

Sidearm: CODA 9

  • VAS LED
  • Bowen 9MM Suppressor
  • Hellgate Stick Magazine
  • Pincer Grip
  • 4MW Snap Laser
  • Field Upgrade: Scrambler, Signal Amplifier.
  • Wildcard: Perk Greed.
  • Lethal: Point Turret, Gyroscopic Stabilizer.
  • Tactical: Hunter Bot, Scorestreak Slayer.
  • Perk 1: Gearhead.
  • Perk 2: Engineer.
  • Perk 3: Guardian.
  • Perk 4: Flak Jacket.

Even though we’re going with Perk Greed, we still manage to get a Hybrid Combat Specialty bonus in the form of Operative. Using it, we can earn a Field Upgrade charge from stealthy kills. Getting a kill with a suppressed weapon, melee weapon, and kills while out of line of sight are all classified as stealth kills.

What makes this M8A1 build strong?

The iconic M8A1 from Black Ops 2 returns in Black Ops 7, and it’s as powerful as you remember. The burst-fire Marksman Rifle is accurate, and, given its capabilities, we’re going to pair it with a high-zoom optic, and we picked the Redwell 30-S 2X for tje job.

The VAS 5.56 Suppressor is standard at this point because it’s the first one you get, and it doesn’t have any downsides. The 18″ Ionic-8 Barrel strikes a balance between offering a nice boost to bullet velocity – something all burst-fire weapons benefit from – and having no downsides to ADS speed or weapon handling.

Given the M8A1’s very respectable rate-of-fire, it wouldn’t hurt to go with a larger magazine, and we’re picking the 40-round Sentinel Extended Mag here. Finally, the Instinct Grip is our saviour because it offers a decent boost to ADS speeds so we can get back on target faster after reloading.

VS Recon Sniper Rifle weapon build

  • Greaves A-762 Suppressor
  • 17″ Ristrauch Nimbus Barrel
  • Wyvern Extend-Z Mag (8RND)
  • Kinesis Grip
  • Light Bolt

Sidearm: CODA 9

  • VAS LED
  • Bowen 9MM Suppressor
  • Hellgate Stick Magazine
  • Pincer Grip
  • 4MW Snap Laser
  • Field Upgrade: Echo Unit, Proximity Flash.
  • Wildcard: Danger Close.
  • Lethal: Combat Axe, Lightweight Alloys.
  • Tactical: Decoy, Selective Sound Bank.
  • Perk 1: Gearhead.
  • Perk 2: Vigilance.
  • Perk 3: Bankroll.

We sadly don’t have a Specialty with this particular Perk setup, but the perk selection itself makes up for that.

What makes this VS Recon build strong?

The VS Recon may be a starting Sniper Rifle, but it’s one of the better options in the current version of the game. It’s a bolt-action rifle that we’re going to spec for range, as well as fast rechambering and ADS.

The Greaves A-762 Suppressor starts us off because it’s first one you get, and has no downsides. The 17″ Ristrauch Nimbus Barrel may not immediately seem like the most obvious option, but considering the already excellent range of the VS Recon, we’d rather work on those ADS speeds and sprint to fire speeds instead.

This barrel also makes it easier for us to pick an extended magazine – the 8-round Wyvern Extend-Z Mag, in this case, without feeling its hit to ADS speeds too much. The Kinesis Grip is another core element of improving the handling of this weapon, as it comes with multiple boosts to ADS speed, sprint to fire speed and more.

Finally, the Light Bolt greatly increases our rechambering speed while also boosting the rate-of-fire. Its downsides won’t be felt much with this particular setup, given that we’re not going for a quickscoping build.
