In BLEACH Soul Resonance – the newest retelling of the Bleach story, this time in the form of a gacha action-RPG – you’ll assemble teams of three Soul Reapers for both PvE and PvP battles. Quite naturally, this raises the question of not only who are the best characters, but also which teams work best together.
Now that BLEACH Soul Resonance has been available for a few weeks, we’ve started to form some opinions on our favourite team comps. Read on for a list of the best teams in BLEACH Soul Resonance, including the Freeze team that’s recently risen through the PvP meta since the release of the second-phase limited banners.
The best teams in BLEACH Soul Resonance
The Premium Meta Team
As we’ve already indicated in our BLEACH Soul Resonance character tier list, one of the best teams in the game right now is – straightforwardly enough – made up of the three strongest units in the game at launch. The game’s first limited banner character, Ichigo Kurosaki (Bankai), is by design the top DPS candidate available right now.
Teaming him up with Kisuke Urahara to provide support buffs and deal plenty of damage in his own right, while Kaname Tosen performs crowd control and follows up with blistering DoT, is a sure-fire way to dish out plenty of damage in the minimum amount of time.
The Freeze Team
Characters with the Spirit attack style are the only ones able to apply Freeze, a debuff that both stuns and damages enemies, and thus they tend to synergize particularly well with one another. The introduction of Hitsugaya Toshiro and his SR bannermate Momo Hinamori filled a noticeable gap in the launch roster, making a Freeze team composition newly viable.
Naturally, Freeze can be quite situational in its utility, since some enemy types have innate resistance to the debuff; and the fact that most Spirit characters are pulling double duty to at least some degree on DPS and crowd control can make for some finicky positioning requirements to maximise both aspects of their kit. However, to balance that out, Freeze teams are particularly strong in the current PvP meta.
Histugaya’s thus-far-unique DPS-suited Spirit kit makes him the ideal focal point for a Freeze team, with Momo providing all-purpose support (or Orihime Inoue taking her place if you want a dedicated healer for this composition, although you’ll lose valuable support in almost every other area). Round out the team with Rukia Kuchiki as a Freeze-boosting sub-DPS.
The F2P Team
You might have noticed that our top two teams are heavily reliant on premium limited-banner characters, which isn’t exactly ideal unless you’ve been very lucky and/or willing to spend a lot of money on this game thus far. While this team comp still requires you to have at least one SSR character, he’s from the standard banner and thus much easier to obtain – especially since, like many gacha games, BLEACH Soul Resonance allows you to nominate your choice of standard banner SSR to join your team after a certain number of pulls.
This team revolves around Ikkaku Madarame, a DPS character who’s basically the standard banner equivalent of the overpowered Ichigo-Bankai. What Ikkaku lacks in instant brutal damage he makes up for in spreading consecutive attacks both over an AoE and over time. His ultimate ability gives him superior reach compared to other melee characters, during which he transforms into a vortex of pain via a Wound DoT debuff infliction.
While an SSR sub-DPS would obviously be nice, for the benefit of F2P players we’re recommending Uryu Ishida (unless you happen to have got lucky and pulled a top-tier Tactic unit like Kaname Tosen or Byakuya Kuchiki alongside Ikkaku). Uryu requires a little more on-field time than is ideal but is still able to provide a useful boost of off-field damage while Ikkaku takes centre-stage, and his passive buffs the whole team’s outgoing damage.
When looking for the best SR support for Ikkaku, you once again can’t go far wrong with Orihime Inoue: she’s currently the only combined shield/heal specialist in the game, as well as being able to buff the DPS’ damage if he switches in after her. You ideally want Ikkaku (and secondarily Uryu) on-field as much as possible to make this composition work optimally, and Orihime for her part doesn’t need very much on-field time at all to make the most of her abilities.
Getting your hands on the best characters in a gacha game is always quite the task. To help you out, be sure to take a look at our BLEACH Soul Resonance codes page so that you can start accumulating those extra free pulls.
