Chrono Trigger, one of the most legendary and beloved RPGs from gaming’s past, has turned 30 years old today. If by chance that has sent you spiralling into nostalgia for the good old days, you’ll be happy to learn that Square Enix is planning to celebrate the milestone with “projects beyond world of the game”.
This was announced proudly on official Square Enix social media platforms, such as the Square Twitter account. The company announced that these projects will be launched over the next year, but spilled no beans as to their nature.
The only really special event we know of as of writing is a livestream later this week dedicated to the music of Chrono Trigger. It kicks off at March 13 at 7PM PST and can be watched on YouTube below when that time arrives. Other than that, what Square has in store is a mystery…
It’s also worth noting that, in the aforementioned Twitter post, Square Enix made sure to pay its dues to the original creators of Chrono Trigger, writing: “Today marks the 30th anniversary of the release of ‘Chrono Trigger’ in 1995. This timeless masterpiece that transcends generations and is still talked about today was born from a dream project by Yuji Horii of ‘Dragon Quest,’ Akira Toriyama of ‘Dragon Ball,’ and Hironobu Sakaguchi, the creator of ‘Final Fantasy’.
