Dave the Diver’s In The Jungle DLC will make substantial changes, with Animal Crossing sim mechanics and a new restaurant

Mintrocket has revealed more on the forthcoming Dave the Diver DLC In The Jungle in its latest vlog, including new locations, gameplay, and mechanics.

The DLC was first teased at last year’s The Game Awards show, but back in June it was delayed until 2026. It’s still without a firm release date, but we now know more about what’s included in its 10 hour runtime.

First up is the jungle village of Utara. Here, time flows in real-time, and Dave can spend time befriending villagers, gathering resources, and completing quests, all presented in an isometric view. It all sounds very Animal Crossing.

That view also lends itself to the new restaurant, the Bancho Grill. Rather than the fixed horizontal movement of the base game, Dave will be able to freely manoeuvre around this restaurant, with befriended villagers rocking up to eat.

And it’s a grill rather than a sushi restaurant this time, as freshwater lake aquatic life requires cooking before eating.

As for the lake, expect plenty of dangers like piranhas and crocodiles, as well as tasty fish. Dave will be equipped with a new Jungle Gun that can freely transform between net guns, shotguns, snipers, and more, which should make underwater combat a little more flexible.

In all, it’s looking like a substantial extension of the base game that sees Mintrocket experimenting with gameplay and minigames alike.

Dave the Diver is also heading to mobile devices next year, launching first in China and then globally. It will be fully optimised for the platform, with appropriate controls too.

It follows the release of the game on Xbox last month, announced at the Xbox Partner Preview, meaning the game is now available across PC (Steam, Epic), PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch consoles.
