Having been around for a decade and boasting over 1000+ characters, Dragon Ball Z: Dokkan Battle is not for the fainthearted. Though, if you want hours upon hours of anime action while building up a team of strong fan-favourite fighters, DBZ: Dokkan Battle certainly provides that, but which of these fighters are among the best right now?

In this DBZ Dokkan Battle tier list, we’ve detailed the top LR characters and the top TUR characters to build teams around, with these characters – when built successfully – capable of taking on the most difficult of event content and missions.

Without further ado, here’s our DBZ Dokkan Battle tier list.

DBZ Dokkan Battle tier list

The cream of the crop when it comes to characters in Dragon Ball Z: Dokkan Battle are LR and TUR units. LR’s – Legendary Rares – are the rarest units you can hope to get and TUR’s – Transcended Rares – are not far behind them. As a result, it’s these types of characters that are among the best in the game and who you will often want to build a team around.

Due to this, this Dragon Ball Z: Dokkan Battle tier list does not follow a traditional format, given just how many characters the game possesses. Instead, we’ve opted to list the top 15 LR and TUR characters for you to try building teams around, with some discussion of the top two-three characters in each of these ranks.

These are powerful fighters with exceptional Leader Skills that have settled into the meta, and many of these characters can be teamed together if you happen to have them ready to go.

Thanks ToonRami, DaTruthDT, Villuhfy, Cole Plays, the Dokkan API, and Birdku Believer of the DBZ: Dokkan Battle community for informing this list.

Best DBZ Dokkan Battle LR characters

LR characters are Legendary Rare characters in Dragon Ball Z: Dokkan Battle. They’re the best of the best, and if you can craft an entire team up of LR and TUR units, you’ll have no issue handling late-game content, challenging missions, and events.

In the current meta, the 15 best LR characters to invest in and build teams around are (in no particular order) as follows:

  • Audacious Finish Super Saiyan 3 Gotenks (LR Teq Gotenks)
  • Divine Warriors with Infinite Power Super Saiyan God Goku & Super Saiyan God Vegeta(God Bros)
  • Fighter of Ultimate Radiance Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta (Int EZA SSJ4 Gogeta)
  • Furious Final Battle in the Future Super Saiyan God SS Goku + Super Saiyan God SS Vegeta (Str Blue Bros)
  • Incomparable Radiance Super Saiyan Goku + Super Saiyan Vegeta (Angel) (10th Anni Vegito)
  • Newfound Power Beyond the Ultimate Gohan (Beast) (Beast Gohan)
  • Power of Pride and Hope Super Saiyan God SS Vegeta & Super Saiyan Trunks (Future)(Int EZA Trunks & Vegeta)
  • Saiyan Warriors with Ultimate Power Super Saiyan 4 Goku & Super Saiyan 4 Vegeta (Phy Monkey Bros)
  • Spirited New Generation Super Saiyan Gohan (Teen) + Super Saiyan Trunks (Kid) & Super Saiyan Goten (Kid) (Int Hybrid Trio)
  • Strike of Full Anger Super Saiyan Goku (Int Nameku)
  • Terrifying Zero Mortals Plan Goku Black (Super Saiyan Rosé) + Zamasu (Str Rosemasu)
  • Ultimate Saiyan Power Roar Super Saiyan 3 Goku (GT) (Golden Giant Ape) (34ku)
  • Universe 7’s Final Will to Fight Frieza (Final Form) (Angel) + Goku(Int Gofrieza)
  • Unprecedented Miracle Super Saiyan Vegeta (Angel) + Super Saiyan Goku (Angel) (10th Anni Gogeta)
  • World Shrouded in Evil Power Omega Shenron (LR Phy Omega)

At the time of writing, Furious Final Battle in the Future Super Saiyan God SS Goku + Super Saiyan God SS Vegeta (Str Blue Bros) is one of the best Leaders you can use in Dragon Ball Z: Dokkan Battle.

This is because he can be run alongside most of the LRs on the above list thanks to his versatile kit and Leader Skill, which allows him to provide Ki+3, HP +200%, and ATK & DEF +170% to all fighters in the Future Saga or Fused Fighters category. On top of that, he provides an additional HP, ATK & DEF +50% to all fighters in the Bond of Parent and Child and Final Trump Card categories.

For example, this means he can work alongside fellow LR, Divine Warriors with Infinite Power Super Saiyan God Goku & Super Saiyan God Vegeta (God Bros), who belong to the Fused Fighters, Bond of Parent and Child, and Final Trump Card categories.

One thing to note when building teams is not just the Leader Skill and which categories it applies to, but Link Skills too, as these will provide additional buffs to your team. For example, Str Blue Bros possess the Super Saiyan, Kamehameha, Fierce Battle, Warrior Gods, Prepared for Battle, and Legendary Power Link Skills, which fellow LR fighter, God Bros, also possesses. This means these fighters will both benefit from a total of Ki+2, ATK +35% and ATK +15% when performing a Super Attack. Bear these Link Skills, as well as your Leader Skill, in mind when selecting units from the above (and below) lists for your teams.

With both Leader Skills and Link Skills in mind, the Str Blue Bros can also work alongside the TUR unit, Miracle of Friendship Caulifla & Kale (TEQ EZA Caulifa / Kale). This fighter belongs to both the Fused Fighter and Final Trump Card categories, thus allowing it to benefit from the entirety of Str Blue Bros Leader Skill. On top of that, they share three Link Skills: Saiyan Warrior Race (ATK +5%), Prepared for Battle (Ki +2), and Fierce Battle (ATK +15%).

Another very strong Leader to consider building a team around is Incomparable Radiance Super Saiyan Goku + Super Saiyan Vegeta (Angel), also known as 10th Anni Vegito. Thanks to various defensive abilities, 10th Anni Vegito is an exceptional tank. His Active Skill – Special Fusion – can be activated on the fifth turn, allowing him to perform a Potara Fusion (for four turns) which forces enemies to attack him, and for every attack received, 10th Anni Vegito gets a 10% ATK buff and will unleash a counter-attack. Devastating stuff.

Additionally, 10th Anni Vegito’s Leader Skill allows them to provide Ki+3, HP +200% and ATK & DEF +170% to all fellow fighters belonging to the Fused Fighters, Pure Saiyans, or Earth-Protecting Heroes category. They’ll then also provide an additional HP, ATK & DEF +50% to those that belong to the Earth-Bred Fighters or Potara categories.

You could have them in a team with the aforementioned Str Blue Bros as Leader, as both fighters belong to the Fused Fighters, Bond of Parent and Child, and Potara categories. This means Str Blue Bros, and other fighters belonging to the Potara category, can at least benefit from 10th Anni Vegito’s Passive, which provides an additional Ki +2, 40% ATK and 40% DEF to Potara allies (whenever he fuses), while the team benefits from Str Blue Bros Leader Skill.

Additionally, both units share the Super Saiyan, Kamehameha, Prepared for Battle, Fierce Battle, and Legendary Power Link Skills, meaning they’d each benefit from an additional Ki +2, ATK +25%, and ATK +15% when performing a Super Attack.

If having 10th Anni Vegito as your Leader, fighters to consider running alongside them include TUR unit, Peerless Super Power Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta (Int EZA Gogeta), who belongs to the Earth-Protecting Heroes and Fused Fighter categories. This means he’ll benefit from both 10th Anni Vegito’s Leader Skill and Fused Passive, as well as three of his Link Skills: Super Saiyan (ATK +10%), Kamehameha (ATK +5% when performing a Super Attack), and Fierce Battle (ATK +15%).

Another Leader to consider using is Phy Monkey Bros, Saiyan Warriors with Ultimate Power Super Saiyan 4 Goku & Super Saiyan 4 Vegeta. This fighter gains ATK and DEF with each Super Attack performed, guards from incoming attacks, has great damage reduction from turn one, and only becomes more powerful upon your fourth turn, when you can fuse them (though you may want to hold off on this during lengthier content so you can maximise your power). Their Leader Skill provides HP, ATK, and DEF +170% alongside Ki+3 to all characters in the Fused Fighters or GT Heroes categories, with those belonging to the Kamehameha category receiving an additional HP, ATK, and DEF +30%.

This means that Phy Monkey Bros can be teamed up with the aforementioned Str Blue Bros very nicely, as they both belong to the Fused Fighters, Kamehameha, Final Trump Card, and Bond of Parent and Child categories. Phy Monkey Bros, with Str Blue Bros as Leader, will benefit from the entirety of the latter’s Leader Skill as well as helping activate Str Blue Bros Passive Skill and Super Class abilities, which increase the units ATK, evasion, and damage reduction. Str Blue Bros will reap even more benefits from Phy Monkey Bros – such as an additional Super Attack, higher evasion chances, and 10% damage reduction – if you play these fighters on the same turn.

Alternatively, Phy Monkey Bros can lead TUR unit Ultimate Super Saiyan Super Saiyan 4 Goku (SEZA SSJ4 Goku), who similarly belongs to the GT Heroes and Kamehameha categories while also being able to reap the benefits of the GT (Ki +2), Fierce Battle (ATK +15%), Super Saiyan (ATK +10%), Shocking Speed (Ki +2), and Saiyan Roar (ATK +25%) Link Skills.

You can also consider the likes of TUR unit Peerless Super Power Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta (Int EZA Gogeta), as another fighter who’s part of the GT Heroes and Kamehameha categories. He also shares the Fierce Battle (ATK +15%), Kamehameha (ATK +5% when performing a Super Attack), Shocking Speed (Ki +2), GT (Ki +2), and Super Saiyan (ATK +10%) Link Skills. The downside for this is that by fusing Phy Monkey Bros, fighters with the same name cannot Link; you would then have to position Int EZA Gogeta in your third attack slot to benefit from all Links.

For a Fused Fighters team that has the Phy Monkey Bros as Leader, also take a look at the aforementioned 10th Anni Vegito; this fighter – as someone who shares both the Fused Fighters and Kamehameha categories – will benefit from Phy Monkey Bros Leader Skill, while also benefitting from the shared Kamehameha (ATK +5% when performing a Super Attack), Super Saiyan (ATK +10%), Fierce Battle (ATK +15%), and Legendary Power (ATK +10% when performing a Super Attack) Link Skills.

Best DBZ Dokkan Battle TUR characters

TUR characters are Transcended Ultra Rare characters in Dragon Ball Z: Dokkan Battle, and while they used to be much more prevalent, you won’t regularly see these units leading teams in the current LR-focused meta. Right now, these units tend to act as fillers, helping ensure your teams meet the criteria they need to in order to complete events and challenges.

You’ll no doubt still end up using these units as part of specific teams you might want to build, so we’re running through the best of the best TUR units anyway!

In the current meta, some of the best TUR characters to invest in and build teams around (in no particular order) are as follows:

  • Ceaseless Combat Super Saiyan God SS Goku (Kaioken) (TEQ SSBKK)
  • Counterattack in the Form of Improvement Hit (TUR Int Hit)
  • Earth’s Dominant Elite Yamcha (Int EZA Yamcha)
  • Final Battle at the Highest Level Cell (Perfect Form) (STR Revival Cell)
  • Miracle of Friendship Caulifla & Kale (TEQ EZA Caulifla / Kale)
  • Next-Level Strike Super Saiyan God SS Goku (AGL SEZA SSBKK)
  • Peerless Super Power Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta (Int EZA Gogeta)
  • Rose Stained Super Saiyan Goku Black (Super Saiyan Rosé) (Phy EZA Rose)
  • The Awakened Ego and Joy of Combat Majin Buu (Good) (Int Revival Buu)
  • Top-Notch Assassin Skills Mercenary Tao (Phy Tao)
  • Ultimate Life Form with Immense Power Cell (1st Form) (AGL EZA 1st Form Cell)
  • Ultimate Super Saiyan Super Saiyan 4 Goku (SEZA SSJ4 Goku)
  • Unparalleled Super Saiyan Super Saiyan 4 Vegeta (SEZA SSJ4 Vegeta)
  • Wielder of Thunder Magic Glorio (Glorio)

We’ve already spoken about the likes of Peerless Super Power Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta (Int EZA Gogeta) above and the types of teams he’d slot into (GT Heroes or Fused Fighters). He’s capable of dishing out plenty of damage while also providing damage reduction on his first turn, which makes him a great addition to these teams.

Another strong TUR unit is Unparalleled Super Saiyan Super Saiyan 4 Vegeta (SEZA SSJ4 Vegeta), who can also be slotted into GT Heroes teams (alongside Int EZA Gogeta if you fancy!), where he’ll provide boosts to DEF, perform guaranteed Critical Hits when attacking alongside other GT Heroes fighters, and launch an additional attack each turn that has a great chance of becoming a Super Attack. He has a little less to offer defensively than Int EZA Gogeta, but still a good unit well worth considering for your GT Heroes teams.

Counterattack in the form of Improvement Hit (TUR Int Hit) is a very interesting unit in DBZ: Dokkan Battle, capable of evading enemy attacks, which then increases his defence and chances of evading again. On top of that, he debuffs enemies after every three attacks, and once these foes reach below 60% HP (or are debuffed by him), he’s guaranteed to land a hit on them with increased ATK. Additionally, his Active Skill – Improvement – activates following six attacks or three dodges and allows him to switch stances. This is vital; upon switching stances, TUR Int Hit begins stacking stats infinitely, bolstering his ATK and DEF further and therefore turning him into quite the beast. If you happen to team him up with units from the Universe 6 category or two units from the Tournament Participants category, his Entrance Animation also increases his chances of evasion, his DEF, and allows him to launch an extra Super Attack for six turns.

Someone else for you to look at is Top Notch Assassin Skills Merch Tao (Phy Tao). Phy Tao is a unit who is great from the get-go, though he will benefit from fighting alongside other allies belonging to the Mission Execution category, as this allows him to activate his Serious Dodon Ray Skill, which stuns the enemy and inflicts ultimate damage on them, while also turning all Str and Int Ki Spheres into Rainbow Ki Spheres. On top of that, and perhaps more importantly, Phy Tao is capable of raising allies ATK and DEF and increasing their damage reduction by 30% by default, while his Super Attack raises allies ATK even further (and reduces the enemy’s ATK and DEF). If he’s entering battle with another Mission Execution character, his buffs to ATK and damage reduction are even more abominable, so bear that in mind when taking on some of the more challenging events that DBZ: Dokkan Battle has to offer.

Another fighter fit for GT Heroes teams is Ultimate Super Saiyan Super Saiyan 4 Goku (SEZA SSJ4 Goku). He has a high chance of landing critical hits, is guaranteed to launch an additional Super Attack if attacking in the same turn as other GT Heroes fighters, and also provides buffs to both ATK and DEF. As part of the Earth-Protecting Heroes category, this unit could also fight alongside 10th Anni Vegito if need be.

Last but not least, we’re going to talk about Wielder of Thunder Magic Glorio (Glorio). He’s a bit of a weird unit given he doesn’t infinitely stack, but also does; his Super Attacks greatly raise his ATK and DEF for one turn while decreasing the enemy’s ATK and DEF and dealing damage to them. But this Super doesn’t stop there: he also receives a flat buff of 9% ATK 6% DEF throughout the battle. A little confusing, but ultimately, all you need to know is that Glorio is a Super Attacking-machine with high chances of evading enemy attacks. You want to capitalise on his evasion chances too, as he’s very much a ‘dodge or die’ unit at times.

He regularly launches additional attacks – upon his Entrance Animation, by default, and as the second/third attacker – which has a high chance of becoming a Super Attack, with his Super Attacks then buffing his ATK and evasion (while normal punch attacks also buff his ATK and DEF). Then, upon Super Attacking three times, Glorio will perform another Super Attack (this then resets and can be repeated infinitely). On top of that, if he’s the third attacker that turn, he’s capable of buffing all allies ATK, DEF, and Ki for three turns regardless of what attacks he has performed prior.
