Ultimate Guide for New Players

Progression

This guide assumes you have completed the tutorial.

  • Flimsy Rod > Training Rod (if you’re not used to fishing) > Plastic Rod > Rowboat/Surfboard > Carbon Rod > Lucky Rod (for Fungal Rod Quest) > Fungal Rod

  • Magma Rod > Rapid Rod (for Farming) > Steady Rod (for big fishes) > Nocturnal Rod (for Bestiary)

  • Fish Radar > Fortune Rod (for Bestiary) > Magnet Rod (for Bait, Farm at Sunstone or Money, farm at Vertigo) > Mythical Rod (for Farming) > King’s Rod (for an easier time catching fish) > Destiny Rod (for Rare Fish).

Note: Mythical, King’s and Destiny Rod can be bought in whichever order you want.

King’s Rod is at The Keeper’s Altar next to a skeleton somewhere nearby 120K. All fish caught is 10% bigger.

Use Rapid Rod to farm at Harvester’s Spike

(The spike in the middle)

It’s an area where Bluefin Tuna’s chances of appearing are increased, and they sell for a lot of money too. I use this area every day to try and get the three main 100k+ rods. Location is next to Roslit Bay.

FAQ

I just finished the tutorial. What should I do?

First off, can you handle the fishing mechanic? If it’s too hard for you, you can buy the Training Rod to make you feel comfortable with it. Then, you can buy the Plastic Rod to get you started.

Where can I buy bait?

Here.

They cost 120$ each, and there are some you can buy on other islands, too.

How do I get bait quickly?

Use a Magnet Rod anywhere in the water at Sunstone Island. Almost guarantees a quality bait crate every catch.

Does the server need to be in ____ season so ____ fish can appear?

No, not really. From what I know, it just increases your chances. Same goes for weather and time.

How do I fish in Lava?

Use a Magma Rod.

Best fishing rods in game?

Destiny Rod for rare fishes, Mythical Rod for money, King’s Rod for easy gameplay

How do I remove an enchant?

As of now, you sadly cannot remove enchants. However, you can replace enchants on your fishing rod by enchanting again.

What does the ___ stat do?

  • Lure Speed: How fast the fishing minigame begins. Higher = faster.
  • Luck: How lucky you are with the fish that you catch. Higher = luckier.
  • Control: How big the white bar you control in the fishing minigame is. Higher = bigger.
  • Resilience: How fast the fish moves in the fishing minigame. Higher = slower fish.
  • Max Kg: How much weight the fishing rod can hold. If the fish has too much weight, the rod won’t be able to catch it.

What does it mean when I hit a Perfect when I toss?

The bobber just goes further than before. Other than that, nothing.

What about a Perfect Catch?

1.5x? XP from that fish and you get some money.

Do you get anything for finishing an island’s Bestiary?

Yeah you get a bobber cosmetic and money.

How do I prevent a fish from being sold when I click Sell Inventory?

You can right click a fish to favorite it to prevent it being sold when clicking that. Sadly, as of now, it’s not possible on mobile or ipad.

How do I get a lantern?

There’s a guy behind the moosewood lighthouse thing that sells lanterns for 1k coins.

He gives you a random lantern everytime you buy one but when you buy one when you already have one it will replace the current one you have and then you won’t be able to equip that one ever again until you get that one back.

Difference between Preferred and Universal Luck?

  • Preferred luck is a luck boost to fishes that prefer that bait.
  • Universal luck is a luck boost to every fish.

How do you spawn on other islands?

On almost every island, there will be an NPC that’s either named Inn Keeper or Beach Keeper. Talk to them to set your spawn point for 35 coins.

What are the flags in the ground with names?

They’re people that have caught either a legendary or mythical fish. Its position is determined by where they have caught it. Spreads to all servers. People looking for that certain fish tend to fish there in hopes of also getting it.

Are there any more quests in the game?

Yes.

  • First off there’s the Angler NPC that has an endless line of quests where you have to catch a certain fish.
  • Second there’s Agric the mushroom guy that gives you a fungal rod.
  • Third there’s the orc that gives you the magma rod.
  • Lastly there’s Wilson at snowcap island that gives you 25 common crates.

Check out the Money Grinding tab. I wrote how to magnet fish there with Magnet Rod.

Can the Conception Conch be used outside of Vertigo?

Yes. I always have more than 3 on me incase I get into an inescapable situation and I’m too lazy to rejoin the server.

What does the Shake Button do?

Makes you catch fish faster.

Rods List & Value

Fishing Rods and their roles and if you should buy them.

Flimsy Rod

The starting rod. Very weak rod that you shouldn’t use unless it’s your only rod.

Training Rod (300)

Good for practicing the fishing minigame if you can’t get the hang of it. Otherwise, don’t use this. Feel free to skip this rod. Available at Moosewood’s merchant.

Plastic Rod (900)

A solid rod. This rod should be your first or second rod after Training Rod that you get in the game. Available at Moosewood’s merchant.

Carbon Rod (2K)

The rod of ALL TIME! Very beginner friendly. Not only does it have some luck to it, but it has features of the Training Rod that make catching fish easier too. The -10% lure speed isn’t a problem though. 600 MaxKG is also nice. Available at Moosewood’s merchant.Copy

Fast Rod (5.5K)

Carbon Rod is better than Fast Rod. Sure, it catches fish quickly, but it has -15% luck and -12% resilience. The max weight it can hold is less than 50% of Carbon Rod. Not worth buying. Available at Moosewood’s merchant.

Lucky Rod (5.25K)

Practically the same as Fast Rod. Not worth buying either. Available at Moosewood’s merchant.

Long Rod (4.5K)

No, bro, this shit is 4.5K. Funny-ass name though, HAHAHAHA. Enchant it with long enchant and you get Long Long Rod. Don’t buy it. It’s at the tent near the lighthouse at Moosewood.

Fungal Rod (Quest)

It’s basically just a better Lucky Rod. You should definitely get this – it doesn’t even cost money. Luck IV gives +20% luck, by the way.

Magma Rod (Quest)

You’ll need this rod to fish for the Volcanic Geode, which is the only item in the game that can give you the Truffle Worm bait that most mythicals like. Not only that, lava is a solid place to grind money in the early game.

Steady Rod (7K)

Really good at its job of catching massive fish. I mean, like 100K kg is insane – it might be even bigger than your mom, but we both know that’s not true. Buy this if you really want to. It’s just a rod for casual play. Use this instead of the Magma Rod to catch big fish, please. Available at the Roslit Bay blacksmith.

Lucky Rod 2 – I mean Fortune Rod (12.5K)

Use this if you’re missing a legendary or mythical in your bestiary. I personally wouldn’t use this though, when I can just use bait. Not the best for ocean mythics since it has -15% resilience. Available at the Roslit Bay blacksmith.

Rapid Rod (14K)

It’s nice for farming and is a main money maker for mid-game players. Go farm at Bluefin abundance spots or similar areas with a rapid rod. It requires some skill because of the -20% resilience. It’s also really nice to have when you’re lacking common fish in your bestiary. At Roslit Bay Blacksmith.

Magnet Rod (15K)

Attracts non-fish items, and you will rarely catch actual fish. Fishing with this rod in Sunstone Island will get you quality bait crates 98% of the time. Fishing with this rod in Vertigo will get you every “crate” type of item except for volcanic geodes and fish barrels, which is also a nice way to farm money. It is located at Terrapin by the Shipwright.

Midas Rod (55K)

I actually don’t know what to say about this one. I mean, more money I guess, woohoo. It’s not really that important. Just save up for mythical if you want money. Available from the wandering merchant.

Mythical Rod (110K)

Best money maker in the game. Rainbow fish sell for a lot. Also, the rod itself is rainbow too, not cyan, so that’s a plus. Just really nice – you can buy this before King’s or after. Very cool rod in general and should be your first endgame rod. Available from the wandering merchant.

Nocturnal Rod (11K)

Forgot about this rod even… Excellent all-rounder. Oh, you little fish are sleeping? Wakey wakey. Very important to get for bestiary since most fish have a sleeping cycle (time). Has enough weight to fish for bestiary mythicals too.

King’s Rod (120K)

A rod that makes fishing really easy. 0.15 control and 35% resilience with no kg limit. Although the -45% lure speed does bring it down, so get Swift enchant, or you can get Resilient to literally make the fish barely move a centimeter. Located at Keeper’s Altar next to a skeleton nearby.

The Honored Rod or Something (190K)

You also need 70% bestiary completion, which isn’t really a problem since you can get it without legendaries or mythicals. Anyway, that’s a lot of luck. Oh wait, this has the same lure speed, ugh. This should be your last rod now – congratulations!

Boats List & Value

Boats and if you should buy them.

Rowboat (700 / LVL 5)

This should be your first boat. Multiple players can ride it and get to other islands.

Surfboard (1.2K / LVL 7)

If you want to go faster and you don’t have anyone to go to other islands with, this is a nice alternative if you don’t want to waste time.

Bass Boat (6K / LVL 10)

It’s like a rowboat but moves, turns, and accelerates faster. A solid choice.

Speedboat (15K / LVL 20)

It’s like a Bass Boat but moves and accelerates faster. Save up for a luxury speedboat instead, don’t buy this one.

Pontoon (20K / LVL 30)

It’s like a surfboard that moves faster but turns slower. It can hold a lot of players. Useful if you’re playing with a literal party.

Fishing Boat (20K / LVL 25)

It’s a speedboat that moves slower but accelerates faster. It’s not as long as a regular speedboat which is a plus, since you don’t get stuck. It probably holds more people by the looks of it.

Quack Cruiser (5K / LVL 35)

Not worth it. By the time you reach level 35, you’d have a bass boat or something better, not some Temu surfboard that moves a bit faster. At least it looks cute though.

Titan (5K / LVL 40)

And I thought Quack Cruiser was bad. This has worse turning speed and costs the same, and has a higher level requirement… At least you can look like an abandoned child in the seas.

Luxury Speedboat (20K / LVL 50)

Now we’re talking. An actual boat. Introducing Speedboat+ Omega Ultra Galaxy 16. The stats are better in every way. Buy after mythical rod. Very good.

Jetski (50K / LVL 60)

Introducing Introvert Boat number 4. Surfboard but better in every way. Best movement in-game. Only downside is that only you can drive it and other people will just fall off due to the immense speed of the jetski alone.

There’s a reason why it costs 50,000. The 70 Steering is a big selling point for everyone since the turning speed is bad for every boat in-game except for this godsend of a boat. But then again, the introvert part of the boat isn’t a problem for 90% of Fisch players anyway.

Money Grinding

People with plastic/carbon/fungal rods should farm in the ocean because the fish there sell very well. Alternatively, if you have a magma rod, you can farm in lava if you’re bored of the sea. The mythical fish there is also easy to get and sells for about 2k.

Once you get the Rapid Rod, you should go to Harvester’s Spike to farm there (location in Progression tab). It works fine for any other location too, though they’ll sell for less. For the Steady Rod, if you ever bought it, you can try catching the mythical fish in the bestiary to complete them and get 2k coins and a bobber cosmetic. The same goes for fortune/nocturnal rods.

For the Magnet Rod, if you really, REALLY need bait, you can farm at Sunstone Island, where most of what you’ll be fishing up are quality bait crates. However, you can also grind money with the magnet rod by “Magnet Fishing” in Vertigo (vertigo location in nocturnal rod obtainment), since Vertigo has every type of “crate” item except Volcanic Geodes and Fish Barrels.

To sell items from Magnet Fishing, open all your Carbon Crates, open the Bait Crates if you need bait, and open all the common crates. Then click “Sell Inventory.” It’s not wise to open the crates before you’re at the merchant.

However, Magnet Fishing can feel really tedious because of its -10% lure speed. You can use the Rapid Rod instead at Harvester’s Spike to stay active.

After you’ve done all that, you’ll finally get the Mythical Rod, which should be your first endgame rod. The Mythical Rod has a 20% chance to turn the fish that you catch into a rainbow color, quadrupling the sell price of that fish. You can just farm at Harvester’s Spike again, but at this point, any place works.

The King’s Rod is used for fishing up massive fish like the Colossal Squid or any other mythical fish from the ocean or other really heavy fish. The resilience and control stats really help here because these fish tend to be really difficult to catch.

Once you’re at the Destiny Rod, you should complete all of your bestiary with this rod. At this point, you’ve finally completed the “whole game,” and all you have to do is wait for updates.
