Helldivers 2’s Galactic War looks like it may have temporarily ground to a halt – at least from a major objectives perspective – for the second time in a few weeks before coming back online. The game’s most recent major order appeared to have suddenly been pulled, and Arrowhead confirmed that it was investigating another backend error affecting things.
Unlike with late February’s instance of a bug fix necessitating in-game conflict intervention, however, this time the studio doesn’t look to have confirmed that it had properly paused the Galactic War while it worked on the solution that it’s now deployed.
So, what was going on? Well, around midday yesterday, March 9, Helldivers 2 community manager Kathgerine ‘Baskinator’ Baskin announced via Discord that the game’s developers had unearthed an issue they’d need to look into.
“We are aware of a backend error affecting Galactic War contribution,” the post reads, “We are investigating! We will inform players here as soon as we have more info available on the situation! Thank you for your patience.”
While there was no mention in there of any pause to the Galactic War, players were left freaking out a bit, as the game’s latest major order appeared to have since suddenly dissappeared prior to running its full course. The order was only issued on Friday, March 7, and had four days and 23 hours left to run when Arrowhead tweeted a screenshot in its announcment of the objective.
There’s good news, though – everything’s now back up and running, with the order having returned to players’ screens with three days and nine hours left to run. “We are back,” Helldivers 2 junior community manager Miitchimus wrote in a fresh Discord announcement, “The Galactic war rages on once more. Thank you for your patience during this time.”
So, there you go. VG247 has reached out to Arrowhead to try and get more info on what happened with this particular war outage, and whether the conflict was properly paused like last time.
