Honkai Star Rail Anaxa build and teams

A strong Honkai Star Rail Anaxa build likely seems familiar if you spent time getting The Herta up to speed. Like the society genius, Anaxa needs the same set of stats you’d expect from a hunt character, though unlike her, his team options are much more flexible. Anaxa functions as a primary damage dealer or support damage unit depending on your needs, thanks to an excellent passive ability that gives him a high amount of crit damage or grants the whole party extra damage in general.

Our Honkai Star Rail Anaxa build guide breaks down his best Light Cone and Relics, with some Anaxa team recommendations as well.

Honkai Star Rail Anaxa build

Honkai Star Rail Anaxa Light Cones

Anaxa’s signature Light Cone is Life Should Be Cast To Flames, and it gives him a bit of everything he needs. It regenerates 10 energy for the wearer at the start of their turn and increases damage dealt to enemies with implanted weaknesses by 60 percent. Anaxa’s ultimate implants weaknesses in every enemy for one turn, so that’ll be 60 percent extra damage to every foe he targets. It also lets the wearer decrease an enemy’s defense by 12 percent for two turns when he attacks it.

Other Erudition Light Cones aren’t quite so tuned for violence, though Anaxa still has some useful alternatives. One is The Great Cosmic Enterprise, which, if you’re reading during HSR 3.2’s anniversary celebrations, you can get for free by playing through the management game event. Cosmic Enterpirse raises the wearer’s attack by eight/16 percent, and for every weakness type an enemy has, the wearer deals four/eight percent more damage to them, up to seven weaknesses. Most enemies have at least three to begin with, so that’s 12/24 percent more damage even when Anaxa hasn’t used his ultimate and 28/56 percent when he has. If you earn all the Enterprise rewards during the event, you’ll get enough materials to reach superimposition level five and get the highest damage buffs.

Today Is Another Peaceful Day, which you can get from the paid battle pass at tier 30, is another useful choice. It raises the wearer’s damage based on their max energy – 0.2/0.4 percent for each point. Anaxa’s max energy is 140, so that’s a flat 28/56 percent damage increase just for existing.

The Herta’s signature, Into The Unreachable Veil, works quite well on him in case you have that, but not The Herta. It gives the wearer a 12 percent crit rate increase and raises skill and ultimate damage by 60 percent for three turns after the wearer uses their ultimate. If the ultimate cost 140 energy or more, which Anaxa’s does, the next use of their skill won’t cost a skill point.

You have two options for 3-star Light Cones. Sagacity increases the wearer’s attack by 24/48 percent for two turns after they use their ultimate, and Passkey regenerates eight/12 energy when they use their skill.

Honkai Star Rail Anaxa Relics

Eagle of Twilight Line is often touted as a strong meta option even for characters who don’t have wind as their element, but it’s actually an intuitive choice for Anaxa.

  • Two-piece effect: Increases the wearer’s wind damage by 10 percent
  • Four-piece effect: Moves the wearer’s action forward by 25 percent after they cast their ultimate

More chances to act before the enemy’s turn means Anaxa can take greater advantage of his talent’s defense-shredding abilities while his ultimate’s weakness implants remain active.

Anaxa’s kit lets him inflict debuffs easily for an Erudition character, so you may also want to use Pioneer Diver of Dead Waters, especially since it helps raise his crit rate.

  • Two-piece effect: Increases damage dealt to debuffed enemies by 12 percent
  • Four-piece effect: Increases crit rate by four percent. Wearer deals eight/12 percent more crit damage to enemies with two or three debuffs. After the wearer inflicts a debuff, the four-piece effects double

There’s also Scholar Lost in Erudition, which is easier to manage than Diver and gives Anaxa a range of helpful buffs.

  • Two-piece effect: Increases crit rate by eight percent
  • Four-piece effect: Skill and ultimate deal 20 percent more damage. After the wearer casts their ultimate, their next skill deals an additional 25 percent more damage

Honkai Star Rail Anaxa Ornaments

Anaxa’s best Ornament set depends on how you’re using him. If he’s your main damage dealer, use Rutilant Arena, which increases crit rate by eight percent and, once it hits 70 percent, lets the wearer deal 20 percent more damage with their skill and basic attack. You could also opt for Lushaka for a five percent energy regen buff instead, if you’re struggling to keep Anaxa’s ultimate going frequently.

If Anaxa is a supporter with another Erudition character on the field, use Inzumo Gensei. The Izumo set raises the wearer’s attack by 12 percent, and if at least one other character in the party is an Erudition character, the wearer gets a 12 percent crit rate buff.

Honkai Star Rail Anaxa stats

Anaxa is much like The Herta in that you want to build him as a heavy damage dealer. Attack, crit rate, crit damage, and speed are his most important stats, and his minor Trace nodes only get him an extra 12 percent crit rate. On the bright side, he does get a 22 percent wind damage buff, so you’re free to focus on attack as your sphere’s main stat.

Ideally, you want to aim for roughly 3,000 or more for Anaxa’s attack, with speed of 130 or higher. Anaxa with no other Erudition characters gets a 140 percent crit damage buff, so if you plan on making him your main damage dealer, definitely focus on raising his crit rate instead.

  • Body: Crit rate or crit damage
  • Feet: Speed
  • Sphere: Attack percentage
  • Rope: Attack percentage

Honkai Star Rail Anaxa teams

Anaxa can work in pretty much any team, either as a supporter for someone like The Herta or as the main focus, with Harmony characters to help him reach his full potential. If Anaxa is in a team with one or more additional Erudition characters, he does not get the 140 percent crit damage buff. Instead, everyone receives a flat 50 percent damage increase, which is still quite useful. A party with The Herta helps give him the best of both, thanks to her passive Trace that increases crit damage by 80 percent when two or more Erudition character are in the party, but really, you can make him work just as well with other characters.

A main-DPS Anaxa team could be something like this:

You could get wild with a twin-DPS team as well and have something like Anaxa, Feixiao, Moze, and a sustain or Anaxa with The Herta, Castorice, and a sustain. Is it ideal? Maybe not, but it’s still functional and quite potent.

What tier is Anaxa in Honkai Star Rail?

Anaxa is an easy pick for the S-tier in our HSR tier list. While his minor Traces don’t make building him any easier, he doesn’t have any outrageous stat demands like Castorice or Mydei, and he can swap between being a hypercarry and a supporter with ease. His weakness implants and defense reduction make it easier to deal with sturdy enemies, and unlike some recent characters, he doesn’t require a specific support unit to function effectively.
