How to become a PlantSim in The Sims 4 Enchanted by Nature

PlantSims are a popular recurring life state in The Sims franchise, despite being one of the few occult types that doesn’t easily map onto a recognisable fantasy creature drawn from elsewhere in pop culture. Regardless, these benign plant people are always highly anticipated additions to new iterations of the franchise – and even though they’ve technically been around in The Sims 4 for a few years already, they’ve received a much-requested overhaul in the Enchanted by Nature expansion pack.

Whether you’re looking for a refresher on the rules to becoming a PlantSim or are brand new to the charms of these green-skinned gardener types, read on below to learn all about how to become a PlantSim in The Sims 4 Enchanted by Nature.

How to become a PlantSim in The Sims 4 Enchanted by Nature

Unlike fairies and most other occult types in The Sims 4, PlantSims can’t be created in CAS, and the status can instead be gained exclusively through gameplay (or cheats). This is because becoming a PlantSim is still a temporary status despite their new powers, but more on that below.

Long-time players of The Sims 4 will likely already know that regular Sims can become PlantSims by consuming a Forbidden Fruit. This is still true in Enchanted by Nature, but the new pack does add a couple of new ways to obtain said fruit – and happily, it’s now much easier and less time-intensive than it has been in the past.

Head to the new world of Innisgreen introduced in the Enchanted by Nature expansion pack and you’ll likely run into a PlantSim sooner or later. They spawn as townie NPCs in this world, so the odds are good that you’ll see them wandering around, particularly in the Everdew neighbourhood where magical Sims tend to congregate.

However, if you’re really eager to get your transformation underway and/or are struggling to find a PlantSim to talk to, you can head to the neighbourhood of Sprucederry Grove and interact with the curious Green Man-looking tree sculpture to summon Spruce Almighty themself.

Once you’ve located a sufficiently green-hued Sim, you can ask them directly for a Forbidden Fruit in order to effect your Sim’s transformation. Note that while PlantSims are reluctant to give up certain resources unless they’re in a specific mood and/or have high enough relationship to your Sim, they seem pre-disposed to give out Forbidden Fruits to just about anyone who asks, and asking Spruce seems to all but guarantee success.

Open your Sim’s inventory, select the Forbidden Fruit there and choose “eat” to instantly transform into a PlantSim.

Despite having some cool new abilities courtesy of the Enchanted by Nature pack, PlantSimism still isn’t a permanent status in The Sims 4. However, one of their new powers is the ability to use the Refresh Life-Force self-interaction to reset the countdown, allowing you to effectively keep your Sim locked into PlantSim status permanently as long as you keep an eye on things. And worst case scenario, you can always obtain and eat another Forbidden Fruit.

Furthermore, PlantSims are no longer locked in to the fairly standard appearance they were forced to sport in their previous Sims 4 iterations, allowing you to change their hairstyle and other accessories and see that reflected even while they have the PlantSim status. However, note that their green hair and skin won’t display in CAS, but will be applied to any hairstyle and skin detail you select once you’re back in Live Mode.

How to cure PlantSim status in The Sims 4 Enchanted by Nature

This is good news or bad news depending on how you look at it, but despite the various overhauls PlantSims have received in the Enchanted by Nature expansion pack, being a PlantSim is still just a temporary life state in The Sims 4.

So, while there’s still no immediate way to reverse the PlantSim status outside of cheats, all you need to do is wait five in-game days for the effects of the Forbidden Fruit to wear off and your Sim to revert to their normal self.
