Like most life sims, Starsand Island begins by letting you customise your player character, choosing everything from their gender, name, and skin tone to their hairstyle and fashion choices. Realistically, though, most people are going to want to change up the latter quite a lot, especially since Starsand is one of those games that frequently gives you cosmetics as a reward.
Starsand Island isn’t the only game to make you stick with your original look until you’ve unlocked the ability to give yourself a makeover, but it isn’t exactly obvious where you’re going to find this feature. How to change hairstyles in Starsand Island
Right from the get-go, Starsand Island does allow you to change your outfit by interacting with a wardrobe – and since you’ll receive one of those as a tutorial reward in short order, you can tweak your sartorial choices from early on.
However, in order to unlock the phone apps that allow you to change your character’s style on-the-go in Starsand Island, you – rather counterintuitively, it must be said – need to complete the Apprentice Rancher quest.
As part of your initial training to become a livestock expert, Ranching Mentor Pastelle will instruct you to adopt four baby rabbits and bring the fluff they shed to clothing store owner Lunelle for use in her next design.
As a thank-you, Lunelle will unlock both the Wardrobe and Makeup phone apps, after which you’ll be able to change your character’s appearance at any time without needing to find a physical wardrobe or mirror.
So there you have it: fairly straightforward once you know where to go, but did you really expect that you’d need to become a rancher in order to do your makeup?
