How to fix the sound bug in Atomfall


Atomfall has now launched on all major platforms – and the Xbox Game Pass service – as of yesterday (March 17), inviting players into an uncanny, post-apocalyptic northern England filled with a bunch of bizarre goings-on. Some of the more unexpected bizarre goings-on, however, include a sound bug that is seeing player characters randomly have to scavenge to the sound of silence in-game.

This sound bug, which causes players’ audio to cut out unexpectedly – typically when entering caves or other enclosed locations – is annoying, to say the least, especially when the sound isn’t returning upon exiting these spaces. How to fix the sound bug in Atomfall

Fortunately, the sound bug in Atomfall has one easy fix for the majority of players, and that’s restarting your game. This, in most instances, has been enough to put the issue to bed, but some players have reported the issue returning after doing it.

If you have restarted your game and the sound bug persists, your next best bet is to – if playing on PC – verify the integrity of the game files in Steam and double check your audio drivers are up to date. You can also attempt to troubleshoot your audio via your system settings if that doesn’t work.

Failing that, and for those on console, you will simply have to wait for Rebellion to deploy a fix.

The good news is that the bug has – according to Steam Community Discussions – been reported to the developer, so it’s likely already working on a fix. The first Atomfall patch arrived on launch yesterday, offering improvements to an array of small bugs and other glitches, so here’s hoping that another patch is deployed shortly, fixing players’ sound woes.
