How to get Celestial Seize in Where Winds Meet

Completing Where Winds Meet’s Celestial Seize quest may be a bit more challenging than you expect, depending on how well your game behaves. In normal circumstances, the Foul Play quest that gives you this essential Mystic Art pops when you approach the location and lets you proceed without fuss. In others, the questgiver is in another village on the coast. Either way, it’s worth getting Celestial Seize as soon as you can. Aside from being a useful stealing skill outside of combat and a counter skill during fights, it’s also required for some later quests.

Below, we explain how to start Foul Play in Where Winds Meet to get the Celestial Seize art.

After you visit complete Another New Wing (the first main story quest), re-visit Heaven’s Pier. You’re looking for this man, Qiu Yuehai, sitting near a vase in front of a shrine, watching another man boast about how much he can drink. Qiu Yuehai knows the other man is cheating in the contest and wants you to steal his secret pills so he can’t clear his head after getting drunk. He’ll teach you Celestial Seize, a thieving skill that lets you pull nearby objects to you.

The game automatically assigns Celestial Seize to a Mystic Arts slot during the tutorial. Once you complete it, if your slots are full, you may need to manually assign it yourself.

Anyway, use Celestial Seize to grab the pills, talk to Qiu Yuehai again, then challenge the other man, Hu Wei, to a drinking contest. You win automatically and walk away with Celestial Seize.

In some cases, Qiu Yuehai won’t be in Heaven’s Pier for… reasons. It’s not clear what prompts the change, though we do know time of day has nothing to do with it. If he’s not in Heaven’s Pier, travel west to Harvestfall Village, and you can chat with him and obtain Celestial Seize there.

Outside of combat, Celestial Seize lets you use Qi to manipulate objects, pulling them toward you. That includes things you’ll find lying around, as well as loose items on other characters. It’s basically Where Winds Meet’s thief skill. You have a higher chance of successfully stealing items if you cast the skill while obscured.

In combat, Celestial Seize disarms a foe and uses their weapon against them. It deals higher damage and reduces the target enemy’s attack at higher levels. Increasing the art’s level has no effect on your ability to steal items successfully outside of combat.
