While progressing through the main storyline in The Forge, you’ll be tasked with finding something called Eye Ore, which you most likely haven’t run into by now. It’s incredibly tricky to get thanks to its low odds, and if you’re not maximizing your stats, mining your first piece of Eye Ore might take quite a while.
Luckily, with a few tips and tricks, you can boost your chances of mining Eye Ore and completing one stage of Captain Rowan’s quest. Here’s everything you need to know about Eye Ore in The Forge, including what it’s for, how to get Eye Ore, what its odds are, and how to increase your chances of mining it.
What is Eye Ore for in The Forge?
If you haven’t somehow already run into it, you might be wondering what Eye Ore is used for (and, if you’ve already tried really, really hard to get it, you might be wondering if it’s even real). Eye Ore is a Legendary Ore that you’ll need to find to complete one of Captain Rowan’s quests that you’ll get as part of the main questline on the Forgotten Kingdom.
To find Captain Rowan, you’ll want to spawn in the Forgotten Kingdom and take a right. Follow the path until you reach the Ruined Cave, and look across from the cave – Captain Rowan’s hanging out in the tent there. Talk to him, and he’ll ask you to complete a few different quests, all of which involve fending off quite a few foes and eventually bringing him quite a few items. The third quest he gives you is the trickiest one so far though, as it requires a piece of Eye Ore.
How to get Eye Ore
Eye Ore can be found in the Forgotten Kingdom’s Ruined Cave, and it can be mined from any of the following sources found there:
- Basalt Rock
- Basalt Core
- Basalt Vein
- Volcanic Rock
If you’re wondering why you haven’t come across any Eye Ore yet despite already having mined plenty of each source rock, that’s because of one thing: its slim, tiny, miniscule odds.
Eye Ore mining odds
Unfortunately, Eye Ore is extremely rare – there’s just a 1 in 1,333 chance of mining it every time you hit one of these rocks. That’s just a 0.00075% chance! However, with a few tips and tricks, you can boost your chances of getting this sneaky ore (and hopefully eliminate some of that pesky grinding).
Best way to mine Eye Ore
Your best bet for mining this incredibly rare ore is boosting your luck stat with Luck Potions, which you can buy for $350 a piece at the potion seller stand in the Forgotten Kingdom as well as Stonewake’s Cross. These make rare ores likelier to spawn, so if you’ve got the gold, it’s worth making sure you’re constantly chugging these throughout your Eye Ore hunt.
While they aren’t quite as effective, you can also speed up the process with a few other tricks. Rerolling your race until you’re a Dwarf can help – Dwarves get the perk of increased mining damage, so you’ll be able to mine a little bit faster with this race equipped.
Making sure you’ve got the best possible pickaxe for your means is also a must. Once you’ve got your best pickaxe in tow, it’s a good idea to equip any Miner Shards you might be holding onto at the Runemaker. You can find this shop near the Forgotten Kingdom spawn – just head straight past the Potions stand, make a left when you see the anvil, and head into the shop to equip those shards.
However, with all of these boosts, it might still take a long time to mine some Eye Ore. Patience is key here – as long as you’re mining one of those four source rocks in the Forgotten Kingdom’s Ruined Cave, you’ll get there eventually. Keep trying! It’ll be worth the grinding.
