As the first non-sequel life sim to launch from a major studio in a whopping quarter of a century, inZOI has some pretty lofty heights to live up to. There are certain things we’ve all come to expect from the genre over the past 25 years, after all, and to fail to deliver on some of the big hitters – even in early access – would be a major mark against any new contender with a lot to prove.
If there’s one thing we all know life sim fans love, it’s cheats. While many other genres have phased out allowing players free access to the developer console over the past few generations, life sim creators likely know they’d have a riot on their hands if their fans didn’t have a few cheeky (but fully sanctioned) options to tweak the world to their liking.
For inZOI players, there’s good news and bad news. First, the bad news: the full cheats console isn’t expected to be added to the game until May 2025, leaving players almost cheatless for the first six weeks at least. Such are the perils of early access.
However, almost is the key word there, because worry not, Krafton knew better than to launch their game without a money cheat. So, just to tide you over for now, here’s how to use the money cheat in inZOI along with a couple of other helpful tools, and keep your eyes peeled for our longer cheat list once it becomes available!
How to use the money cheat in inZOI
inZOI’s money cheat is very simple to use, since literally all it takes is the push of a button. And to find that button, you just need to open up Psycat’s Advice, represented by a little icon of a book with a question mark on the cover in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen.
Click on this and a pop-up help guide will appear. It contains a lot of different tabs leading to various game tutorials, but there are also three buttons on the lower left-hand side of the page that you can click at any time for a more direct variety of in-game help.
So if you’re in need of a quick cash injection for your Zois, you can just press the middle button – coloured blue, labelled with a spanner icon and the text Use Money Cheat – for an immediate deposit of ₩100,000 directly into your active household’s funds.
At the time of writing, there’s no way to alter the amount of cash the cheat grants, or to reverse it if you’re interested in doing a rags-to-riches challenge. However, you can push that free money button as many times as you like without any consequences, so at least your Zois are never in any real danger of running out of funds if you don’t want them to.
inZOI uses the same M-with-a-strike-through symbol for its in-game currency as the board game Monopoly, a design based on inverting the currency symbol for the South Korean won. Sadly, this symbol of a fictional currency might not display properly if we tried to replicate it, so for ease of understanding, we’ll be using the won symbol (₩) when discussing money matters in our inZOI guides.
What other cheats does inZOI have?
We’ve already indicated that inZOI doesn’t really have any cheats at launch, other than the one button literally labelled “cheat” that we explained above. However, there are a couple of quality-of-life features that could be considered akin to debug cheats, since they give you the option to circumvent the game’s usual rules a little bit if you need to.
The first can also be found in Psycat’s Advice, where it’s positioned just below the money cheat. The third button on the help list is red, features a symbol of a person running, and is labelled Emergency Rescue. Press it if your Zoi becomes stuck or trapped while pathfinding to save them the ignominy of public bladder failure because they got caught on a bit of scenery, or worse, starving to death while partway clipped through a wall.
The second feature is available only in Build Mode, and is simply the prompt to hold down the Alt button if you want to Freely place objects. Doing so removes the restrictions against overlapping objects, which may affect some functionality – and even in extreme cases result in the kind of situation that has you hitting that Emergency Rescue button – but gives you a lot more scope to make your decorating projects look good.
This prompt will be clearly visible on the list of options when picking up an object in Build Mode and so isn’t really “cheating” according to the game; but since it’s the corollary of a popular command cheat found across games in The Sims series, keen builders will surely be interested to know that it’s there.
