Starting Kingdom Come Deliverance 2’s The Lion’s Den quest might take a bit of extra time, depending on how diligent you’ve been in clearing out your quest log. The Lion’s Den is a mandatory quest, but you can only start it after finishing The Devil’s Pack, a lengthy quest with multiple outcomes that you pick up shortly after arriving in Kuttenberg. If you haven’t done that yet and want the best results for each member of the Devil’s gang, head over to our Devil’s Pack walkthrough.
Our Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Lion’s Den walkthrough covers how to get enlisted, who the killer is, and how to defend Musa, with or without false evidence.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 The Lion’s Den: Wait till Samuel gets back from Kolin
Speak with Zizka at the Devil’s Den, and you’ll find out you have to wait for Samuel to return. Samuel takes his time, so if you ignored The Devil’s Pack previously, this is a good moment to round the hooligans up. You can also complete some side quests or just use the time change menu to move the day ahead. Anyway, once Samuel returns, go back to the Devil’s Den, and speak with Zizka to get things moving.
Zizka says the best course of action is infiltrating Sigismund’s camp, which you’ll need Katherine’s help for, but before you get started, you can also speak with Hans to start a little side quest of his own. Completing it rewards you with a special hunting bow, so if you’re inclined toward archery as a fighting style, the quest is worth the time.
Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 The Lion’s Den: Meet with Katherine and get enlisted
Travel to Sigismund’s camp and head for the bath tent at the far northern end. Wait until after 9 p.m., then head inside and speak with Katherine. She’ll prepare a bath for you and has plenty of information about the camp, including where the cannon is (under guard near the captains), who the captains are, and that there may be a spy around – well, other than you. Ask all the questions you want before continuing.
Katherine says your best bet for moving the mission forward is enlisting in Sigismund’s army, so speak to Stephen Crow. Players report there’s a separate line of dialogue you can use to convince Crow to let you join if you took part in the tournament here before this quest. We didn’t, though the process is still fairly straightforward.
Henry can convince Crow of his abilities as a smith, alchemist, warrior, or spy. Alchemy and blacksmithing are the two easiest checks, both of which are classed as “medium,” but even if you succeed, Crow has a reason not to let you join up. Once you pass or fail one of those checks, choose “I don’t have any other talents.” Crow should take you to his superior, the Prague captain Katz, who says you can find some missing soldiers and the charter they supposedly carried to prove your worth.
If Crow still needs convincing before taking you to Katz, say “I just need money” to put his mind at ease.
Before setting out to retrieve the charter, speak with Katherine again. She tells you about someone she thinks may be stalking her, which starts The Stalker side activity. You can use Mutt the dog to finish this quickly, but it’s important that you go ahead and do it now. You’ll probably need Katherine’s help later, and at that point, it’s for a timed quest that’ll be pushing things too close if you try to do both.
Talk to Musa and wake Myshek up
If you want to help Myshek and get some extra information, head to the infirmary and speak with Musa. If you pass an alchemy check, Musa lets you try to heal Myshek. Doing so requires a Strong Cockerel Potion. Unlike in other quests, you can’t get by with a weaker version of the potion this time. Brewing a Strong Cockerel Potion requires:
- Spiritus base
- 1 mint
- 2 valerian
You can purchase both from the apothecary in Pschitoky if you don’t have them. Myshek won’t die while you leave to get your ingredients, and when you return with the potion, he’ll point you to Old Lhota in Kuttenberg’s far south as a location of interest. It’s the same area the quest marker points you to anyway, but hey, at least Myshek isn’t dead this way.
Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 The Lion’s Den: Find the soldiers and find the lost charter
Travel south to Old Lhota, and either speak with the people there to learn that the deserters are holed up in a nearby building or just travel to the building immediately. Drink some Savior Schnapps before you approach in case things go wrong, as you can either convince the soldiers to give you the charter or kill them all. Naturally, the former option is easier than taking on a garrison of soldiers by yourself. If you don’t feel like negotiating, or if you fail, sneak into the complex at night and take the charter from the painted chest in the building near the wheel.
If you kill the soldiers, you’ll still have to take the charter from the chest, but you can take the keys from them and avoid having to pick the lock.
Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 The Lion’s Den: Investigate the murder
Return the charter to Katz to get a new frock and some groschen, along with an invitation to a dice game. A soldier interrupts the game by telling Katz that Chertan was attacked, and since Katz is too drunk to do much about it, he asks you to investigate.
You can properly investigate and collect evidence or just get the single piece you need to move the story forward. The thorough way involves examining these things in the area where Chertan was attacked:
- A pool of blood near a cart
- A lockpick
- A picked lock near the shed
- The cannon
Near the green tent, examine:
- The tub covered in blood
- The dagger nearby
- Under the bed (inside the green tent)
Under the bed is where you’ll find the lock for the nearby chest. Unlock it to find Lord Borumlaca’s Bond, which tells you that Grozav, one of the other captains Katherine told you about, owed Chertan money. Report your findings to Katz, where you’ll also learn that Chertan is now dead – hardly surprising, given the amount of blood you investigated.
Grozav takes the racist way out and says Musa poisoned Chertan. During this conversation, you’ll have two timed responses.
He poured one of his pagan potions down his throat
- Stay silent
- What the hell are you talking about?
- Why would Musa do that?
Stay silent or say “what the hell are you talking about?”
But what was not usual was that he started vomiting blood. And then he died
- Stay silent
- Couldn’t you just have given him the wrong treatment?
- The wine killed him! (hard alchemy check)
The alchemy check is the best option here, though it won’t change Grozav’s approach. At the end of it all, choose “Stand up for Musa.” Tell Katz that Musa needs help, and he’ll encourage you to speak with Musa again.
You only have two in-game days to gather evidence, so don’t get distracted with anything else. Focus on clearing Musa’s name first.
Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 The Lion’s Den: Talk to Musa
You’ve got a few options for getting to Musa. The first is persuading the guard to let you in, which requires passing a hard check, or you could sneak by, kill him, or have Katherine distract him. The easiest method is either sneaking by or getting Katherine’s help. If you completed The Stalker earlier, Katherine will help immediately. Whatever you choose, chat with Musa again and say you’ll discover what poison Chertan’s killer used.
If you pass a “very hard” alchemy check – you need alchemy higher than 25 for this to work – you can volunteer to examine Chertan’s corpse and compare your findings with Musa’s almanac of poisons. If you fail, Musa tells you how to do it anyway. Either way, you’ll aksi still have to interrogate witnesses and come up with who used the poison.
The likely choices are Crow, Grozav, Katz, and two guards, as no one else would’ve had access to the powder storeroom.
Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 The Lion’s Den: Investigate the murder and prepare to defend Musa
Get the poison investigation out of the way first. Examine Chertan’s body and exhaust all options, and then grab Musa’s book and read through it. Report to Musa.
I think I know what Chertan was poisoned with
The correct answer is Kiss of Death. Musa will ask if you’re sure, and when you say you are, you gain a small reputation boost with him. He’ll then question your motives in all this. You can lie, tell him to mind his business, or tell the truth. The outcome doesn’t matter, as you can actually trust Musa, so just do whichever you think is best.
Speak with the guards, then investigate Crow’s tent and Grozav’s tent, both of which are easier to check out at night when you can rifle through their belongings without getting accused of, well, rifling through their belongings. Crow’s tent has some of the ingredients needed to brew Kiss of Death, even the nail used for testing, and a large amount of money in the locked chest. Grozav’s has a skill book.
You can also speak with them during the day to interrogate them about their movements when Chertan was attacked. All the checks are hard or very hard, but the information gleaned during these conversations is optional. Don’t fret if you fail the checks. The guard tents include points for investigation as well, such as a vomit-covered bedroll, but after examining Crow’s tent, you’ll have all the evidence you need.
Once two days pass, your opportunity to defend Musa finally arrives. You can pass the time by taking on quests or just advance it using the in-game time tool.
Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 The Lion’s Den: Prepare to defend Musa at the trial
Speak with Katz to get started once the time comes. Declare “Musa is innocent’ instead of staying silent, and then say:
- He was with us when Chertan was stabbed (you can also try to pass the high speech check, but the outcome is the same either way)
- Corporal Stephen Crow
- Chertan caught Crow in the act while he was stealing powder
- Crow poisoned the wine before we arrived
This will result in Crow’s death. You can also pin it on Grozav instead if you want, and have Crow turn up to help in a later mission.
Speak to Katherine to move the mission forward, and make sure you have combat gear equipped before the next phase. A group of Praguers attacks. Defeat them to end the quest.
Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 The Lion’s Den: Who is the killer?
If you missed anything along the way, Stephen Crow is the killer, but you can frame the completely innocent – if still racist and unpleasant – Grozav for the crime and benefit from Crow’s combat prowess later.
Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 The Lion’s Den: Plant false evidence
Once you know Crow is the killer, you can make a deal with him to place false evidence that incriminates Grozav. Once you agree to Crow’s deal, place belladonna in Grozav’s tent, and wait for the trial to start.
Bear in mind that this has absolutely no effect on how the quest plays out, and you can frame Grozav at the trial without even speaking to Crow.
