Even if you’re not an Xavier main in Love and Deepspace, it’s hard to argue with the character’s appeal: he’s generally the kindest and most easygoing of the love interests on offer, and his defining love for food and naps makes him maybe the most readily relatable as well. Plus he has a cool light sword.
When it comes to challenging endgame deductions like Final Farewell, Xavier makes for a good companion. As the heroine’s work partner (and the player’s tutorial character) there’s already a rapport there even if you’ve been focusing on some of the other lads, and combat with Xavier on your team is generally a breeze, especially when the Abyssal Chaos mode allows you to use specially levelled-up and Awakened versions of his cards.
Seeing every possible outcome in LaDS’ endgame investigations comes with plenty of rewards, and while it’s not a waste of time to get the same ending on multiple runs, the most efficient way to play is to aim for a different ending with every playthrough. To that end, read on for details of every Abyssal Chaos Final Farewell Xavier ending, and the exact steps you need to follow to unlock them.
LaDS Abyssal Chaos Final Farewell: All Xavier Endings
There are six total endings to the Final Farewell commission with Xavier; however, two of them are minor variants on a couple of others, so you only need to play through the commission four times in total to unlock all the outcomes – assuming you pick all the correct answers, that is.
Below are the right choices to make for each of Xavier’s endings in Final Farewell.
Ending 1: Devour
Answers by scene:
- Final Farewell I: No, I’ll lead the way.
- Final Farewell II (Choice 1): Let some light in.
- Final Farewell II (Choice 2): We won’t let him get away!
- Final Farewell III (Choice 1): Jump to the side.
- Final Farewell III (Choice 2): Composite Prism.
- Final Farewell IV: (No choices)
- Final Farewell V (Choice 1): If we don’t cause any circuit issues…
- Final Farewell V (Choice 2): Whatever this experiment is, it’s dangerous.
- What Endures: They were alive as real humans.
Devour is the standard ending to Final Farewell that you tend to get if your decisions didn’t unlock any other special outcomes for the finale, so this is likely to be the one you’ll see if you make choices at random on a first playthrough. However, you can follow these steps if you’re still missing Devour and want to guarantee that you see it.
Ending 2: Lost
- What Endures: Delete the data.
Lost is a “secret” ending to Final Farewell that unlocks via a hidden combat node. You could regard this as the “bad” ending to Final Farewell due to the in-story subject matter, but there are no actual consequences outside of a comparatively downbeat end to the commission, and you’ll even get an achievement for completing the hidden combat event.
Endings 3 & 4: Fade Away / Eternal Starlight
Answers by scene:
- Final Farewell I: Okay, you can lead the way.
- Final Farewell II (Choice 1): Don’t touch anything just yet.
- Final Farewell II (Choice 2): Stun him!
- Final Farewell III (Choice 1): Steady the filing cabinet.
- Final Farewell III (Choice 2): Starry Sky Lantern.
- Final Farewell IV: (No choices)
- Final Farewell V (Choice 1): Don’t.
- Final Farewell V (Choice 2): The data were real people.
- What Endures: If we find the administrator…
- Hidden Choice: We could back up the data.
Following these steps exactly will unlock two endings simultaneously: Fade Away and Eternal Starlight, the latter being a variation on the former with an extra scene unlocked by a special mission item. At the end of the commission, the Eternal Starlight end card will display, but your endings tracker will correctly show that you’ve unlocked both.
If you want to unlock Fade Away separately at any point to see its end card, choose a different item during the second decision in Final Farewell III (“Composite Prism” instead of “Starry Sky Lantern”), and otherwise follow the steps for Eternal Starlight.
Endings 5 & 6: From Death Comes Life / Starlit Path
Answers by scene:
- Final Farewell I: No, I’ll lead the way.
- Final Farewell II (Choice 1): Don’t touch anything just yet.
- Final Farewell II (Choice 2): We won’t let him get away!
- Final Farewell III (Choice 1): Steady the filing cabinet.
- Final Farewell III (Choice 2): Starry Sky Lantern.
- Final Farewell IV: (No choices)
- Final Farewell V (Choice 1): Don’t.
- Final Farewell V (Choice 2): Whatever this experiment is, it’s dangerous.
- What Endures: If we find the administrator…
- Hidden Choice: What if they want to leave?
Following these steps exactly will unlock two endings simultaneously: From Death Comes Life and Starlit Path, the latter being a variation on the former with an extra scene unlocked by a special mission item. At the end of the commission, the Starlit Path end card will display, but your endings tracker will correctly show that you’ve unlocked both.
If you want to unlock From Death Comes Life separately at any point to see its end card, choose a different item during the second decision in Final Farewell III (“Composite Prism” instead of “Starry Sky Lantern”), and otherwise follow the steps for Starlit Path.
