Early Game Guidance
About Animal Care and Farming
- To get eggs, you need at least one female chicken.
- Buy a rooster alongside your chicken and find a cute surprise soon after!
- Butchering an animal will give you a lot of food in return.
- Animal shelters are no requirement for breeding or eggs.
- Animals will not starve to death if you have no animal feeder, as long as there is grass growing around your farm.
- Animal Feeder is created via the Windmill (available at farm trader).
About Making Money
- I recommend potatoes for relaxed and low-maintenance money making when you start the game. The plant stays after you harvest it.
- Using copper -> to sell copper bars is good cash!
- Stealing a bunch of stuff in starting town to sell it is also effective (its around 1,2k gold).
- Invest into a female chicken early on for passive income/food.
- If you unlocked the Wellness Potion (an early main town quest), save your herbs to craft and sell it.
Things I Wish I Had Known Earlier
- If you are struggling to find any wood type or ore, open your Journal -> Books and read ‘A Guide to Resources’.
- Use your iron/steel bars on your pickaxe and hatchet early game!
- There is an iron toolkit in a heavily guarded mine in the plains, good luck!
- When you are on your farm, press B (building menu) and then P (path) to spray the ground with dirt/stone paths! It makes your farm so much prettier!
- If you find a little pointy rock with a rune engraved in it, hit it!
- You can fast travel between your discovered campsites once you interacted with the signboard on each of them.
- The Traveling Merchant is marked with a blue cloud on your map if he is available.
- Tree stumps don’t give you extra wood and should only be chopped if you do not like the location of the grown tree. A completely removed tree respawns much slower!
