This is the internet, so it was inevitable that details would slip out about an upcoming Nintendo Switch Online playtest shrouded in secrecy. That’s apparently happened before the event even goes live. The program will reportedly see players checking out a brand-new MMO project from Nintendo that focuses on building and developing a planet with others.
Vooks.net reports that people selected for the Nintendo Switch Online playtest can now access a website with details about the upcoming experience, which will run from October 23 through November 5. The game sort of seems like a Minecraft MMO, in which players farm resources and build on a big shared planet.
Beacons reportedly seem like an important commodity. Once put down on the planet, only players who placed them can edit or build within that area. It’s recommended that players stash their special items within their beacon zones. Outside of these areas, everyone can edit stuff and take on enemies.
There will also reportedly be a social area called the Dev Core, where it seems like things are more laid back to chill with people. It’s noted this is where players must go to level up their characters, as well. The leveling system revolves around placing and developing beacons.
There is still no name associated with the experience, though it appears to be a brand-new IP. Visually, from screenshots, the project might resemble Pushmo from a Nintendo perspective. It’s also unknown what developer is behind this game.
Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack just recently turned three years old and teased that new stuff is on the way for the premium subscription. That will come to fruition shortly, as Banjo-Tooie will arrive for members this Friday, October 25.
