New Onimusha: Way Of The Sword Trailer Debuts During February 2025 State Of Play

Capcom debuted a fresh Onimusha: Way of the Sword trailer during Sony’s February 2025 State of Play, following the upcoming action game’s reveal during The Game Awards 2024. The new Oniumsha trailer highlights some of the skills Miyamoto Musashi, the protagonist, can employ in battle against the otherworldly monsters invading his home, including using the environment to his advantage.

Musashi’s face is modeled after Toshiro Mifune, the famous Japanese actor who portrayed Musashi in several samurai films in the 1950s and 1960s.

One clip shows Musashi flip a cloth over a creature’s head to blind it, while another sees him use a table as a shield, before kicking it into a crowd of approaching monsters. These techniques are all in addition to standard sword strike, thrust, and parrying maneuvers, and Miyamoto has a set of special skills from his Oni Gauntlet, a magical glove that appeared in previous Onimusha games to grant its wearer unique powers.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword launches sometime in 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.

Capcom also announced Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny for May 23, 2025 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch. Samurai’s Destiny is a remaster of the original Onimusha 2 that features HD graphics and several quality-of-life improvements, such as auto-saves, skippable cutscenes, and support for different aspect ratios. Capcom is also adding Hell Mode, where a single hit results in death, and an easy mode.
