Oblivion is legendary not just for the countless memes its massive open world spawned, but the incredible side stories underneath the strangeness.
When it comes to Oblivion Side Quests, there’s always something surprising around the corner. Even when you’re doing something relatively pedestrian in a fantasy context like battling goblins, there can still be unseen consequences for your actions which have lasting effects on the outcome of your quest and the reward you receive.
Oblivion is also fantastic at giving you a compelling reason to undertake classic types of quests that would be quite straightforward in other games. Try helping the mage at Fort Caractacus on the Red Ring Road to the northwest of the Imperial City if you want to see what I mean – or rather not see…
It’s these unique encounters that are truly worth the price of admission, and most can be accessed almost from the very start of Oblivion. Some of my favourite side quests are Through a Nightmare, Darkly in Bravil, An Unexpected Voyage in the Imperial Port District, and Whom Gods Annoy down in Leyawiin.
To find Side Quests in Oblivion naturally, make sure you ask passersby and other NPCs about local rumours. While many of the dialogues will be recycled, that’s no reason to ignore them forever. There are many location or city-specific voice lines, so be sure to enquire whenever you explore somewhere new.
But to make sure you find everything, here’s where to find all of the Side Quests in Oblivion.

Some of Oblivion’s best quests are undertaken at the behest of the gods vying for mortals’ attention in Tamriel. To find those, check out our page on Oblivion’s Daedric Artifact locations.
