Gear + Relics

Gear

There are 3 types of gear: weapon, armor, and pendant. Gear and relics are divided into Gray, green, blue, purple, and yellow; yellow is the best. Do not worry about gear and relics until you reach incarnation. Just be sure to use blue+ gear. Once you hit incarnation, you want to start aiming for purple+ gear. You probably won’t be able to get all yellows until VB due to how short MW cultivation realms are.

You typically want to use the armor that gives defence of the opposite path. Ex. Magika would choose armor that gives p. Def. Gear and relics also comes with affixes. Higher rarity gear has more affixes and can have better rarity affixes. The rarity of gear is more important than affixes. Affixes are like the cherry on top. Ex. A yellow weapon with bad affixes is better than a purple weapon with good affixes(Typically) due to the high base stats of the yellow weapon.

Affix priority

  • Wonder>Spellforce/Blade Rage(Depends on path)>Crit related affixes>HP/MP>Rest are useless

Relics

  • Relics function similarly to abilities in that they are used on battles. Relics can be used to gain shields, do damage, gain buffs, or debuff the enemy.

Relic Affix Priority

  • Relic CD>Crit related affix>Relic damage(damage relics only> Rest are useless

What Relics to Use

  • Magika: Combination of trigrams and amulets. You want 4 shields in total. No ability shield: 4 trigrams and 2 amulets. If you’re using 1 ability shield then 3 trigrams and 3 amulets. I’m sure you get the pattern. You can also replace one amulet with a banner for pvp.
  • Corp:
  • Swordia: Greatswords if you’re using a sustain dmg build(left ability tree) due to their higher damage. They are also better for mob farming. Longswords if you’re using a burst dmg build(right ability tree) due to their lower CD.

Augment

Use soul dust and forge stones to augment your weapons. Augment level base cap is 170. You can increase the cap through polishing. Augmenting increases gear/relic stats. Every 10 levels gives a special stat bonus.

Carving

Increases gear stats. Sacrifice carving mats and unused blue/purple gear to level up carving. A greater stat increase for upgrading rarity of carving. Second carving unlocks at augment level 40, while third unlocks at lvl 80.

Polish

F2P does not need to worry till Nirvana or Celestial. Polishing increases stats and augment level cap. It is recommended to get gear(not relics) to polish level 1 eventually for the ability %. Polishing mats can be obtained from Smelting spare yellow gear.

Resonance

  • Augment Resonance: Once all your gear/relics(earlier augment resonance bonuses does not require all) reaches a certain augment level you get a special stat bonus. Ex. All gear reaches lvl 15 augment, you get +5% relic dmg to taoist. You should keep your weapon 20-40 levels above everything else(besides pendant). You should keep your pendant 20 levels above everything else(besides weapon).
  • Carving Resonance: Once an individual piece of gear/relic gets its carving to a certain level, you will get a special stat bonus. Ex. Your weapon get 2 carvings to rate+2, you will get +2% ability dmg to taoist.

Inherit: Transfers all augment level, carving level, and polishing levels to a new weapon. Might lose some levels when inheriting a higher realm gear/relic. It’s not that you lose exp, but that higher realm gear requires more resources to lvl. .

Note: Higher realm gear/relics are more expensive to upgrade so make sure to save lots of forgestones and souldust before bting to a higher major realm.

Techniques

One of the most important aspects of the game. You spend tech points and tech guides to unlock and upgrade techs to gain stats and effects. Do not complete techs! I know the 100% stat bonus from completing techs sound nice, but it is not worth the resources spent. You might seem like you have lots of tech resources at the start, but techs will only get more expensive as you advance to higher ranked techs. You will have a dire need for tech resources, especially tech guides. Only get the effects you need. For example:

Note that I only upgraded this this tech to tier 3 for the respira effect. I did not upgrade it to tier 6 because its effect was useless nor did I complete the tech for the 100% stat bonus. The 100% stat bonus only increases stats gain(which is very little in the long term) and not the effect. Only get the effects you need. The only exception to getting tiers you don’t need or completing techs is if you need to do it to reach the next rank of techs.

Tech Effect Priority: Pill attempt/Pill %>Abode>Law spd(SW content)>Respira>Monster %>taoist %>relic dmg % reduction>relic dmg %(Magika and Corp should ignore relic dmg %).

Abode vs. Law Speed: You will have to balance between getting abode and law speed techs. There are 2 ways to go about this.

  • Method 1: Get all abode techs from R1-R10 before moving on to law techs. Law techs appear at R11-R16.
  • Method 2: Rush law techs(while getting some abode along the way). Get each element to about 20%-30% then go back and get all abode techs. Come back to law techs and get law techs to 30%-40%(or more).

Note:

  • Magika does not need relic dmg % since they do not rely on relic dmg.
  • Swordia might prioritize relic dmg % over taoist ability dmg % depending on build. If you rely on relics for damage then you want relic dmg %. If you rely on abilities for damage then you want taoist ability dmg %.
  • Corp can ignore relic dmg %. Relic dmg % is not too useful for corp.
  • Monster % should be obtained before IW and even possibly during SW to beat pando before IW unlocks.

Curios

Curios are items are boost your stats. You can upgrade and star them up. Curios are divided into growth, non-growth, and active. A growth curio of the same rarity is stronger than a non-growth of the same rarity. A non-growth curio of a higher rarity is about as strong as a growth curio of a lower rarity if the stars are the same. Ex. A  3 star yellow non-growth curio is about as strong as a 3 star purple growth curio.

Growth Curios

The above curio is considered a growth curio. You need to fulfill certain conditions to get the most out of it.

Non-Growth Curios

The above is a non growth curio. They have no conditions to fulfill. Some non-growth curios have special stats like crit, taoist %, pill %, and more.

Active Curios

The above is an active curio. They function similarly to an ability. You can equip 3 of them at once. You can obtain active curios from: Story, beating demon spire, otherworld shop, and watching ads. When you get demon spire active curio, you will replace otherworld shop curio with it.

Upgrade

You can upgrade curios with star dust. Improvements from upgrades will increase exponentially with each upgrade. It is recommended to upgrade a curio as much as you can(+10) before moving onto the next. Star dust is somewhat hard to get in MW(Will change in SW). 6 lower rarity stardust can combine into 1 higher rarity star dust(Ex. 6 blue dust=1 purple dust).

Star Up

You can star up curios with star dust and extra curio shards. Once a curio reaches 5 stars, you can awaken a curio. Do not awaken a curio unless it’s a cultivation related one since the resources needed are expensive. Staring up a curio increases stats given by 10% and pen+block (important PvP stats).

Resetting Curios

You can reset curios and gain all resources invested into it back for 50 fateteum. You have to wait 24 hours between each reset.

  • Owned: The curios you own
  • Gallery: Shows all curios
  • Set: Some curios are part of a set; if you collect the entire set then you get a stat bonus.
  • Series: Some curios are part of a series; if you collect the entire series then you get a reward.

Curio Upgrade Priority

Cultivation>Pet pill cultivation exp %(SW curio)>Main path atk>HP/MP>Monster %>Taoist %>Crit related>Relic dmg reduction %>Pet aptitude/Pet HP %/Pet atk %(Whichever path your pet is using)>Whatever else you want.

Process

Cultivation>Pet pill cultivation exp %(SW curio)>Yellow growth main path atk>Yellow growth HP/MP>Monster %>Purple Growth/Yellow non-growth main path atk>Taoist %>Crit related

This list will probably last you until Celestial. You probably won’t have a lot of high rarity curios, so upgrade what you can. Only upgrade blues to +4 at most(Unless it’s crit or monster % or cultivation related). The star up priority is the same as the upgrade priority.

Notes:

  • You probably want to upgrade your monster % curios some time during Nirv in order to beat pando before IW or for IW preparations.

Abilities

Overview: Abilities are the main way most paths do damage. Think of them as skills in an RPG. Do not worry about order until Incan.

Leveling: You can level abilities with ancient knowledge. At level 20 you start needing ability books every 10 levels. Ability books can be obtained from the sect library for citrine, so always mine citrine. You gain a big bonus to an ability for reaching certain level milestones.

Advancement: You can advance abilities with advancement knowledge. Advancing increases damage. You gain a big damage bonus for reaching certain advancement level milestones.

Ability Priority

You want to first get blizzard to level 69. As you get blizzard to 69 you should also get spiritual wall and windwalker(shield abilities) at the same time. There are several options after this:

  1. Get blizzard to level 99
  2. Get phantasm
  3. Save for SW abilities

You want to first get Sunset halberd to level 69. Afterwords, get Spiritual wall to level 39 and windwalker to 49. There are several options after this:

  1. Save for SW abilities
  2. Max death touch
  3. Get blaze seal to lvl 79.

The left side of the tree is the sunstain dmg build(better for PvE). Right side is burst dmg build(better for PvP). You should start with left side and get up to shadow strike. Afterwards, save for SW or start on right side.

Notes:

  • You want to level abilities 1 lvl before their max level. Ex. Max level is 100, so level until 99. This is because 99 to 100 is a lot of citrine for not a lot of dmg.
  • Your first ability reset should be when you have a total of 180k+ citrine. You can check how much citrine you have in sect+how much you have already spent(by clicking reset). This reset should be happening in vb to get SW abilities.

Loadouts

Ignore divinity; that’s SW content. You can also a total of 4 loadouts. Loadouts are presets that you can switch in-between. At the bottom, you can select for which scenario you want to auto-switch to a loadout when facing certain content. You only need 2 loadouts in MW. A PvP/Demonspire one and a farming one.

Notes:

  • Demon spire is easy enough that you can use your PvP loadout to clear it. In SW, you will eventually want to have a third tower loadout.
  • For the magika farming loadout, you want to replace your trigrams with amulets. Do not upgrade or use the inherit function when replacing trigrams with amulets. Just switching them out is fine.
