Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket Adds Shiny Pokemon Later This Month

Shiny Pokemon are on the way to Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket, and fans of these ultra-rare pocket monsters can expect to see them later this month. These sought-after Pokemon can be found through the new Shining Revelry booster packs that’ll be available starting March 27, and The Pokemon Company is teasing shiny versions of Charizard ex, Lucario ex, and Pachirisu.

If you’re lucky enough to acquire one of these cards, you’ll notice that they sparkle when tilted, and the Pokemon on them boast different colors when compared to their regular counterparts. Shining Revelry booster packs will also introduce Pokemon and Trainers from the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet video games, so you can expect to add Tatsugiri, Iono, and the best new Pokemon, Sprigatito, to your collection as well. Players will also be able to participate in ranked matches when the update goes live next week.

Starting April 1, Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket will also offer a quest to unlock a Shiny Charizard-themed display board and binder. This can be used to show off your favorite cards, and The Pokemon Company says that there’ll be new ex Starter Deck missions running from March 27 through April 26. Completing these missions will allow you to earn a deck ticket, which can be exchanged for a starter deck.

In last month’s Pokemon Presents livestream, details on events and new content for several of the free-to-play Pokemon games were revealed. A new event inspired by the Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire games was announced for the Pokemon Masters EX game and the legendary Pokemon Darkrai and Cresselia will arrive in Pokemon Sleep at the end of March.

Recently, Saudi Arabian-owned mobile developer Scopely confirmed that it was preparing to buy the gaming division of Niantic–the developer behind Pokemon Go and other mobile games–for $3.5 billion. Addressing fans, senior director Michael Steranka assured them that Scopely will not force unwanted changes on Pokemon Go.

Beyond the mobile space, this also looks like it’ll be a big year for Pokemon with the release of a new Switch game, Pokemon Legends Z-A.
