R.E.P.O. – Every Monster Guide (How to Beat Them)

Every Monster and My Way of Dealing with Them!

The Peeper (The Eye)

To get rid of The Peeper, just make sure it can’t see you. It will then go away after a while. Here are ways to do that:

  1. Find a table or chair and hide under it. To leave the room after that, use the third method.
  2. Go back the way you came. Leave the room, then stand behind a wall until you can see clearly again.
  3. If you want to move past The Peeper without it locking onto your view, look straight down so you can’t see any part of it. Then, just follow the floor to where you need to go.

Shadow Child

The Shadow Child is easy to avoid. Just don’t look at it at all. If you want it to disappear faster, look at it for short times, then wait for it to calm down, and repeat. You can also hit it with a small item or a weapon to make it fall down and vanish.

The Apex Predator (The Duck)

It’s simple to avoid The Apex Predator. As long as you don’t hurt it, pick it up, or touch it, it won’t harm you. If you want it to stop bothering you, buy a duck bucket from the shop. Then, turn it and place it on top of The Apex Predator.

Be careful, The Apex Predator will try hard to make you click on it. It might jump to where your mouse is or move towards it. So, watch out when you are picking up items.

To kill it, unlike other monsters, if you hit it with a weapon, it will get mad and attack you. So, try to get it into something like a cauldron or an extractor to kill it easily.

The Spewer

My strategy for The Spewer is to let it grab onto my face. It doesn’t do much damage, and you can use the vomit it spits from your mouth as a weapon to stun other monsters.

To get The Spewer to latch onto you, you need to make it angry at you, then walk closer so it tries to attach.

Remember, The Spewer throws up while it’s flying around, so dodge that since it hurts you for 10 damage each time.

Also, don’t forget that its vomit can break items when it’s on your face. So, aim your vomit away from important things and towards whatever you want to damage, like monsters or annoying players.

The Gnomes

Gnomes are the easiest monsters to kill. If you see a lot of them, just throw them and don’t think twice.

However, if all the extractors on the level are done, do not kill the gnomes. Monsters respawn instantly when you’re going back to the truck. So, if you kill one gnome, it will instantly come back, and they appear in groups, so about five more will spawn around it.

The Rugrat (The Baby)

The best way to handle The Rugrat is to just run away from it. They throw items very well and will take anything without hesitation. Try to get about 40 tiles away from it so it disappears, and your items won’t get destroyed as much.

If you have very fast reflexes, you might be able to catch items before they hit you, but this takes a lot of practice to learn.

The Animal

The Animal is strange. It hurts you for 10 damage if it hits you, but it moves around fast and without direction.

It’s best to just get away from it. It won’t really try to follow you, and it’s not worth trying to stun it because its movements are so random.

The Chef (The Giant Frog)

To deal with The Chef, trick it by making it jump one way, then quickly move in the opposite direction. It will show you it’s about to jump by pulling out its knives.

The Hidden (The Invisible Guy)

The Hidden is completely invisible. You’ll know it’s there by its loud footsteps and heavy breathing. The Hidden won’t actually hurt you, but it can cause problems, especially later in the game where it can lead to certain death. It grabs you and runs off, taking you somewhere else.

Later in the game, it often carries you straight towards dangerous monsters like The Huntsman or The Headman. The best way to stop it is to have a friend grab you while you’re being taken, since you can be grabbed when it’s carrying you.

The Bowtie

The Bowtie doesn’t directly hurt you, but it blows you away. This causes damage if you hit a wall, and it can even trap you in a corner if you’re not careful.

Its weakness is that it’s pretty slow and won’t really chase you. So, running or walking away from it is the best escape.

The Mentalist (The Alien)

The Mentalist, like The Bowtie, won’t directly attack or chase you. Instead, if it sees you, it creates a bubble around itself. This bubble slowly lifts anything inside, including players and items, and then slams it down fast, dealing 50 damage.

If you get caught in the bubble, there are two ways to avoid taking damage:

  1. Like with The Hidden, another player can grab you and pull you out of the bubble.
  2. If you’re alone, you won’t take damage if you’re slammed onto The C.A.R.T. or the floor of an extraction point. These spots stop all fall damage to prevent players from breaking expensive items.

The Bangers (The Skull Bombs)

The Bangers are like The Gnomes, but instead of attacking, they start a 10-second timer and then blow up. They have low health, but a bit more than The Gnomes.

To avoid them, outrun them and wait for them to explode. If there are other monsters around, you can use them as weapons to blow up stronger monsters. Just like with The Gnomes, do not kill them once all extraction points are done.

The Headman (The Head)

The Headman is probably the hardest monster to escape, but you have two options:

  1. If it hears you, stop making noise and try to leave the area where it heard you without being seen.
  2. If you’re spotted or being chased, hide under a table or try to make it lose sight of you for about 5 seconds. If it saw you go under the table, it will start biting until you die, so try to back away so it can’t reach you, or run away from the table while it’s still busy.

The Robe

The Robe speeds up if you look at it. The best way to escape it is to not look at it and just walk away. If you don’t look at it, even walking is faster than it. Don’t try to hide under anything, as it will attack you until you die, just like The Headman.

The Huntsman

I usually have quick enough reactions to dodge under The Huntsman’s shotgun. It always aims for your head, so if you’re already crouching, it won’t shoot over you. The best way to avoid The Huntsman is to stay completely quiet and not move much, especially when it’s close, as it can hear you better.

The Reaper (The Scarecrow)

The Reaper is a bit like The Robe mixed with The Chef. It’s a fast-moving monster that constantly attacks, but it doesn’t speed up if you look at it. To escape The Reaper, use the same methods you’d use for The Headman: break its line of sight by going into another room, or distract it by going under a table and then moving away from its attack or running while it’s busy.

The Trudge

The Trudge is the slowest monster in the game. To escape it, just run faster than it before it tries to pull you in with its mace-arm. If you get caught by its pull, the final slam causes some slash damage. But, if you’re directly under its mace arm, it instantly kills you, no matter how much health you have.

The Upscream

As its name suggests, The Upscream will run up to you and scream, launching you upwards and dealing about 10 damage. The best way to avoid it is to break its line of sight. If you do get hit by it, use the boost it gives you to get away from it.

The Clown

The Clown has two attacks that are easy to dodge. First, it has a laser attack that always aims for your head. If you’re crouching, you can jump over the beam. If you’re standing, you can crouch under it.

Second, if you’re close to it, it will try to walk towards you and kick you. If you time it right, you can jump over the kick, or you can simply walk to the side.

Keep in mind, both of the clown’s attacks do decent damage, but they launch you really fast. So, hitting a wall or another object will cause extra damage, usually around 10-30.
