Tamagotchi games – whether that’s a physical Tamagotchi or Tamagotchi Corner Shop on the Nintendo DS – have typically been single-player games about caring for virtual pets or an array of jovial characters. Tamagotchi Plaza is no different, once again tasking you with working hard at Tamahiko Town’s array of shops to help various Tamagotchi out and elevate the town to superstar status so more characters come and visit.
This time around though, Tamagotchi Plaza allows for multiplayer under some circumstances. After all, every dentist ought to have an assistant! Here’s everything you need to know about multiplayer in Tamagotchi Plaza.
Tamagotchi Plaza multiplayer guide
Multiplayer in Tamagotchi Plaza is rather limited, but it exists! While you cannot play the whole game in multiplayer or roam around Tamahiko Town with friends, some of the shop’s minigames do allow for local multiplayer with one other person.
Unfortunately, this is limited to local play only and requires two of the Nintendo Switch’s JoyCons or controllers. You are not currently able to play Tamagotchi Plaza multiplayer online in any capacity.
On top of that, local multiplayer is limited to specific shops in Tamagotchi Plaza. These are as follows:
Tamagotchi Plaza does also have some secret shops for players to unlock, and we have not yet tested these for whether or not they have multiplayer functionality. We’ll be sure to update this page once we know more about them.
To take part in multiplayer in Tamagotchi Plaza, enter either the Dentist or the Rap Battle Venue, and you’ll be immediately prompted to choose between ‘Solo’ or ‘Duo’ play.
To play multiplayer, select ‘Duo’, and you will then be prompted to choose between ‘Sharing’ or ‘Holding Hands’: Sharing mode is for those using two JoyCons, and Holding Hands mode is for those using two separate Switch controllers.
Once your controllers or JoyCons have been set up, you’ll be able to crack on with either mini-game as a pair, rather than playing alone!
