The Unbearable Love is the second main story chapter in Tears of Themis, HoYoverse’s detective visual novel with a generous side-serving of otome romance. Unlocked after you clear Episode 1, you’ll still need to complete this episode as well before you unlock the full suite of the game’s features, but there’s a lot less tutorialising this time around.
If you thought the intro chapter was a bit light on dramatic tension, Episode 2 really ramps things up: a prominent socialite has been murdered at a charity gala, and not only that, but one of your potential husbandos is in the frame. (Marius very much sets himself up as the “Maya” proxy in ToT’s Ace Attorney homage here: less connected to the legal system than the other characters who have stronger reasons to be there, he makes up for it by being falsely accused after exactly one scene.)
By the end of this chapter you’ll have unlocked free-time interactions with the final two love interests, completing your line-up of dateable characters with the introduction of criminal psychologist and Themis Law Firm consultant Vyn Richter, and the aforementioned Marius von Hagen – playboy heir to a shady business mogul, currently embodying the rich kid stereotype of rebelling by going to art school.

- Jen’s Testimony 1 (In answer to “Marius wouldn’t lash out at Estelle from the scandal because…”)

It’s a shame that Tears of Themis doesn’t get as much love as its sister games on HoYoverse’s roster, because even five years down the line it’s still a very active production — including a thriving Tears of Themis codes scene you might like to check out before you go!
