What does the Gem of the Forest Fragment do in 99 Nights?

As you wander deeper and deeper into the dark woods of 99 Nights in the Forest, you find stranger and more mysterious objects than you could ever imagine.

One such artifact is the Gem of the Forest. This powerful gemstone has been shattered into fragments which you can find throughout the forest, but when reformed into its original shape can be used to create some of the strongest effects in the game.

Here’s where you can get your hands on the Gem of the Forest and what to do with the fragments once you have them.

Where to find the Gem of the Forest

The Gem of the Forest can be found in fragments throughout the forest. They can appear in golden chests, but are a guaranteed reward from clearing the Cultist Stronghold.

Continually clearing the Cultist Stronghold is the best way to farm Gem of the Forest Fragments, particularly because you can also collect great items, Cultist Gems and free Diamonds for your trouble.

What to do with Gem of the Forest Fragments in 99 Nights

A full Gem of the Forest is made by slotting 4 Gem of the Forest Fragments together, which you can do just by dragging two pieces together – like you’d fix the Anvil or put food inside a Crock Pot.

When you’ve completed a full Gem, you can use them in a similar way to Cultist Gems to first unlock the Level 5 Crafting Bench, then to build Level 5 Crafting Recipes.

These recipes all require one full Gem of the Forest each and include:

  • Respawn Capsule – Revives the next player to die after each charge
  • Temporal Accelerometer – Skips a full night after each charge
  • Weather Machine – Staves off rain and lightning for 3 days after each charge

While it’s very difficult to get the resources together on your own, the Respawn Capsule is obviously a life-saver (literally) for solo-players who previously had no way to come back from a deadly slip up.

So even though the other two machines are slightly underwhelming (just max out your fire and build a lightning rod) it’s definitely worth making the effort to fully upgrade your crafting bench.

However, to gather enough resources to make it to this stage of the game, you’re better off using one of the best Classes as described by our 99 Nights in the Forest Tier List.
