Board game lovers who can’t get enough of Monopoly Go will be pleased to know there’s another table top classic that’s available in the hit app.
The Monopoly Go Battleship event is based on the iconic Battleship board game that first released back in 1967. Like with the original, the modern day version has two players trying to figure out where their opponent has hidden a fleet of ships and sink them all.

Next Monopoly Go Battleship event
The next Monopoly Go Battleship event hasn’t been announced yet, but it’s rumored to be launching on Tuesday 11 November 2025. That’s when the next Carnival Games event will be launching, according to the Go Rewards app, and Battleship is a part of that wider event.
We’re still waiting for official confirmation though from Scopely on when Battleship will be returning to Monopoly Go. Once this is announced we’ll update this page.
How to play Battleship
Battleship is part of the Monopoly Go Carnival Games. To take part in the mini-game, you’ll need to at least 10 Carnival Games tokens. Before each match, you have to arrange where you want to place your fleet on a seven by seven grid. You can either ask the Monopoly Go app to place the ships for you, or you can choose where to hide your ships on the playing field.
You’ll then need to hit the ‘Play’ button to get matched up with an opponent. When a match begins, all of your opponent’s ships are hidden and you’ll need to fire rounds from your canon and hit squares on the grid one by one to uncover and destroy the fleet. You only get 25 rounds though and there’s a timer too. The player at the end who has destroyed the most amount of ships wins.
Monopoly Go Battleship tips
Struggling to win a round of Battleship? The official Monopoly Go YouTube has released a video giving players tips on how to win at Battleship.
Here are some tips to help you out:
- Avoid grouping your ships together – It can make it easy for opponents to wipe out your fleet if all your ships are bunched together.
- Spread out your ships – Make full use of the playing field to spread out your ships, which should help with getting your opponent to fire rounds that miss.
- Remain unpredictable when placing ships – Try not to reuse layouts or choose obvious placements like having ships all in the center or right on the corners of the playing field.
- Make good use of Mines and the Treasure Bottle – Don’t place the Treasure Bottle right next to a ship as that can make it easy to find. Also place Mines strategically, for instance next to a ship or in places where an opponent might attack first. If an opponent hits a mine, they’ll lose an extra shot.
- Plan your shots – If you manage to land a successful hit, plan the rest of your shots carefully. Don’t try shooting somewhere else on the grid, stay in that surrounding area. Think of the layout of each ship you’re trying to sink and use those layouts to figure out where to strike next.
