As you wrap up Monster Hunter Wilds’ main story, side missions will become available to you in abundance, leading to even more post-game story progress, new monster-related discoveries, and of course, plenty of materials to help you prepare for your next hunt.
Some of these side missions offer a much more peaceful time than you might be used to though, tasking you with capturing the smaller creatures around the world. This includes Samin’s Research Report, which has you hunting down a Dapperwing. If you’re having some trouble finding it, here’s where to find a Dapperwing in Monster Hunter Wilds.
Where to find a Dapperwing in Monster Hunter Wilds
Dapperwings are small, green, parrot-like birds in Monster Hunter Wilds, and they inhabit the Scarlet Forest biome. They’re found throughout the forests, but one area in which you can guarantee you’ll catch one is Area 14 of Scarlet Forest.
Area 14 is home to the Southwest Pop-Up Camp, so go ahead and get the camp built via your nearest Pop-Up Camp Meowster and fast-travel over there.
If you then head ever so slightly down the hill from the Pop-Up Camp and look to your left, you should soon come to a ruined wall which — hopefully — has two or three Dapperwings perched atop it.
Now, you know what to do next! Equip your Capture Net and catch one of the Dapperwings, then return it to Samin at the Plains Base Camp for your rewards.
If the Dapperwings aren’t present for you in this area, you can try resting at the Pop-Up Camp until they are, or roam around the forest for a while to see if you can catch any perched on trees! For what it’s worth, I caught my first Dapperwing during the daytime, with clear weather.
