Where to find an Ember Rufflizard in Monster Hunter Wilds

Completing Side Missions for the folk you meet during your Monster Hunter Wilds adventure is very important, as these will raise your Hunter Rank and see you able to take on even more Assignments, and ultimately meet more monsters! One troubling side mission is part two of Dareel’s Research Report, which tasks you with tracking down the vibrant Ember Rufflizard.

Rufflizard’s typically frequent the Windward Plains biome, but the Ember Rufflizard prefers the ‘toastiest corners of Oilwell Basin’ according to Dareel. Without further ado, here’s exactly where to find an Ember Rufflizard in Monster Hunter Wilds.

Where to find an Ember Rufflizard in Monster Hunter Wilds

After returning a Tracktail Lizard to Dareel — who is located in the Windward Plains Base Camp — in Monster Hunter Wilds, you’ll be requested to collect a Dapperwing for Samin. Once that’s wrapped up, Dareel will have some unfinished business with you, and then requests that you find him an Ember Rufflizard.

He fortunately informs you that an Ember Rufflizard can be found in the ‘toastiest corners of Oilwell Basin’, and if you happen to have this creature in your Endemic Life Field Guide, you’ll learn that they prefer the volcanic areas of Oilwell Basin and often lurk on rocks waiting to find food.

One area in which I was able to find multiple Ember Rufflizard’s was Area 15 of Oilwell Basin. This is a volcanic area, so make sure to bring some Cold Drinks with you to protect you from the heat.

On the above map, where my player character is standing (just south of the Area 15 marker), there is a crater in the ground where you can find multiple small groups of Ember Rufflizards. They have distinct, green, glowing markings so they’re pretty easy to spot!

Once you find an Ember Rufflizard, equip your Capture Net and use it to capture the Ember Rufflizard. Afterwards, you can return to the Plains Base Camp to report to Dareel and hand over the creature.
