If you’re hoping to craft that swanky new armor set you have wishlisted at the Smithy in Monster Hunter Wilds, you’re going to be in need of materials. Plenty of them! Fortunately, this is Monster Hunter, so most of the parts you need – including Herbivore Shell – can be gathered from the carcasses of the monsters you end up hunting.
Herbivore Shell is very easy to miss out on though, given that it’s dropped by Small Monsters who won’t often be who you set your sights on slaying during quests and so forth. To help you out, here’s where to find Herbivore Shell in Monster Hunter Wilds.
Where to find Herbivore Shell in Monster Hunter Wilds
Herbivore Shell is dropped by Low Rank Ceratonoth in Monster Hunter Wilds. These are a Small Monster that can be found in Windward Plains.
To track Ceratonoth down, open your map of Windward Plains and look for small, pink diamonds. These are Small Monsters, and you want to hover over them until you spot a pack of Ceratonoth. Once you find some, set them as your Waypoint and have your Seikret take you over there.
Once with a pack of Ceratonoth, you know the drill. Hunt them! They will try and run away as you attack, so you’ll want to attack them as quickly as possible. Fortunately, it doesn’t take much for these herbivores to go down. It also doesn’t matter if you’re slaying male or female Ceratonoth, as both can drop Herbivore Shells.
It’s also worth noting that Herbivore Shell is dropped by Low Rank Ceratonoth only, and if you look at the creature in the Small Monster Field Guide, there’s only a 70% chance of you carving Herbivore Shell from their carcass. So, you might find yourself acquiring Herbivore Carapace and Raw Meat for a while before getting your hands on Herbivore Shell. Patience is key!
